Hospes Amerigo is a 5 star hotel in Alicante. Located in the city centre with the beach and the marina 50 m away and the train station 1 km away. The hotel is an old Dominican Convent, in the historic centre of Alicante and it has been tastefully refurbished, keeping many of the original features. The rooms are comfortable andbeautifully decorated with orchids and luxury beauty products in the bathroom as well as modern amenities such as free internet access, LCD tv and DVD player. The hotel restaurant serves a good selection of tapas and the menu del dia is around 15 euros. The breakfast has a good choice of food but is pricey and there are numerous cafes and restaurants nearby. The spa of the hotel is located on 4th floor with a pool, sauna and sun deck and is a perfect place to relax. The hotel garage is 15 euros per night and El Altet airport is 15 km away. The staff are efficient and professional - a fantastic hotel where you will be well looked after.

HOTELREVIEWS

Reviews of Hospes Amerigo Alicante

Review by: Richard, Bournemouth, United Kingdom

Welcome was warm and staff were very helpful in making sure the room was to our liking.

Hotel generally very clean and Pool / Roof Terrace a great place to spend some time. Tapas Bar serves amazing menu if a little expensive.

Room was kept very clean and tidy and generally well maintained apart from one bedside light being broken. Watch the marble floor in the bathroom though after getting out of the shower as it can be very slippy when wet

This hotel is great and I would definately stay here again, its location makes it ideal for the Marina and the Beach (both being less than 500yds away) as well as the old town with its bars and restaurants. The main shopping area of Alicante is a 15 minute stroll away along with plenty of bars/cafes to stop at on way if needed.

I stayed in Alicante at another Hotel close by and stumbled upon the Tapas Bar in this Hotel one evening. The food was amazing, the staff very friendly and knowledgable so we ended up returning several times. Nothing was too much trouble and they remember you on return. We were even given a tour of the roof terrace and pool area when we said we were interested in staying in the future. Have just booked for October now for birthday celebrations. CANT WAIT !!!

The hotel has some lovely features, but I'm not sure I'd call it a 5-star hotel. (Granted, I've stayed in some amazing 5-star hotels in Italy.) Perhaps because my booking rate was less than full rate, the first room they gave me was very small, no balcony, and a window that opened on to a metal vent. When asked, they moved me to a room with a balcony. This room, however, had the front door lead directly into the bathroom -- which I found to be rather strange. It was, however, a lovely bathroom. The bedroom was again quite small and the furniture spacing was cramped. The balcony made up for some of that. If you're driving there, be sure to get exact directions since that part of Alicante is all one-way streets. It took us 30 minutes AFTER we spotted the hotel to find a way to get to their garage opening. The staff was very polite and helpful -- with the exception of the breakfast buffet staff. Although the food was self-serve, the coffee and tea were not. They came once to offer coffee and tea, but evidently that was the only "service" offered -- other than to make sure you'd paid for the breakfast. It was an impressive buffet with good food. However, I would've appreciated one more cup of coffee.
