This is a beautiful and welcoming hotel, located in a very convenient part of Amsterdam. Our room was small-ish but comfortable. The hotel lobby is elegant and interesting -- check out the amazing fish tank and the library. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, mint water, and (sometimes) snacks were available at all hours. Skip the breakfast buffet and walk down to the corner to Broodje Bert for a breakfast sandwich of eggs and old cheese -- a bargain at about 4-5 Euros.
We had one quibble with the bedding. For some reason, it included a plastic or rubber sheet, which made the bed uncomfortable until we removed it.
We would definitely stay here again.

This place was great. The only issue was noise transfer from the room above us--the wooden floors kept us aware of every movement the people above us made. I always travel with earplugs, so it was not a problem. The lobby area was amazing and featured around-the-clock tea (good tea in the pyramid bags), coffee, and hot chocolate with goodies to accompany. The rooms were very large (by European standards), clean, and beautiful, and the bathroom was out of this world (even pretty good for American standards). The location was outstanding, and we fell in love with the neighborhood haunts that the front desk staff directed us to for meals and drinks. You must go to The Grommet (I think that's the name) for a drink while you're there! I will absolutely stay here again when I return to Amsterdam.
