This hotel is in a prime location in the centre of Amsterdam and suitable for those who are looking to be close to the red light district and China town, one of the busier areas of Amsterdam. However, it is located on a small side street opposite a canal and so is quieter than most of the streets in the area. jg/05/2007 This hotel is located in the heart of Amsterdam, close to Central Station and at the edge of the Red Light District. It is within easy access of the main shopping district of Amsterdam and a short tram ride to the majority of museums which are located on the Museumplein. This is a traditional building in keeping with the buildings in the area and are typical Dutch style. The lobby is medium-sized and was also renovated in 2006. It now benefits from a trendy feel, with brown carpeting, gold velour seating and modern lighting. There are also futuristic stools and tables offering an updated and vastly improved atmosphere. The lobby is split level and there are steps up to the reception area which may not be ideal for people with walking difficulties. The bedrooms are small and basic though recently refurbished with wood floors and wood furniture. They are in good condition as are the bathrooms and all have individual air conditioning. The bathrooms are basic with white tiling and some have shower only and some have bath and shower although these room types cannot be guaranteed.

Why France?

The hotel looks good in photos but in actuality it is worn and a little shabby. Staff is neither friendly nor unfriendly. Room was very small (smaller than photos) which is not too unusual in Amsterdam but there was only room to walk on one side of the bed. Shower was large but the spray barely worked. The complimentary breakfast for the "France" was in the Irish Pub next door which didn't look or smell clean. Not a croissant in sight. Location is good - very central near the train station but is relatively quiet since it is on a side street. Not a great value but I've stayed in worse.

I was deeply disappointed in Floris France Hotel

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful — I would not recommend this hotel to others, because it`s price is fully inappropriate to the housing conditions. In particular, the room was cleaned rarely, room has no window. Moreover, my personal belongings was missed from room and I got no solution from the staff of the hotel.

Very small clean hotel near the central train station and many attractions. Good breakfast, very good value for money. But it was cold in the room (early March)!

Poor Standard

Small room, without a window to open; noisy from the neighbour rooms; breakfast served in a pub two houses apart; no parking (only an expensive parking service)
