My daughter and I spent 5 nights at the NH Barbizon Palace while touring Amsterdam and nearby places. It was a short walk from the train station, which was convenient for our nearby travels (The Hague/Delft, Haarlem), taking the tram to the museums and other sights as well as the canal tour and services such as a cash machine. The room was high quality but what we liked most was the excellent breakfast (the best I've had in or outside the US) served as late as 10:30 with free International Herald Tribune and EU Wall Street Journal. The concierege helped us with our reservation for the Peace Palace tour at The Hague and other tourist questions. While we were there the main guests were Europeans from a variety of countries. |

room 007 1st floor next to church. Big double doors open onto canal behind hotel. Cold room requires additional portable heater which was quickly supplied. Very comfortable bed. fri night quiet but sat night live music directly across canal at molly browns was loud until 2:30 am. Breakfast buffet best i have ever had. no smoking room. |

I would recommend this property, just a five minute walk from the central train station. The location is great, you can walk to most sites in town and there are many good restaurants in the nearby area. My room faced the street that has several bars located on it but I did not hear any noise, I was on the forth floor in a non-smoking room. The bed was extremely comfortable, I am glad I set my alarm because I could have slept another 4 hours without waking up. My breakfast was included and was good however I was told it didn’t start until 8am so maybe not good if you have an early flight. I finished breakfast at 8:30, checked out, hopped on a train back to the airport. I had a 10:40 flight so everything worked out well, check this place out if you want to do a long layover like I did. |

We requested a quiet room after reading other reviews. We were given a room on 4th floor facing inwards and it was so peaceful - no noise whatsoever. We had also requested a cot which they had forgotten to put in room but after a call to reception one arrived within 10 minutes together with an extra towel and complimentary bath pack for the baby containing a sponge and bath lotions etc. The room was clean and a good size. The bed was 6' wide with a choice of pillows. |
