We used the hotel as a stopover after train from Seward so arrived at night and left early morning. Accommodations were adequate and fairly clean. The staff were very helpful. Given the low price for downtown accommodation we would use this hotel and if you're not looking for luxury accommodations I would recommend staying there. You do need to be able to carry luggage up/down stairs.

I would not recommend anchorage in general, or alaska for that matter, unless you can guarantee your weather and spend your time hiking and don't waste your money on ok food and expensive hotels
