St George Lycabettus is a 5 star hotel in Athens.
Unrivalled location in Athens with a breathtaking view of the Acropolis from the breakfast room while enjoying a hearty breakfast, the St George Lycabettus boutique hotel is the place to stay when in Athens. Situated in the most exclusive quarter of Athens and the famous shopping area of Kolonaki, guests can also enjoy the forest walks of the Lycabettus hill and Syntagma Square is only 10 minutes walk. Each floor of the hotel has its own design and each corridor features Greek art past and present. The contemporary and very cosy rooms offer all modern facilities expected from a top class hotel, including air conditioning, safe, minibar, modem connection and of course excellent leisure facilities with the Spa, gym and the roof top swimming pool (only open during the summer months. ) The hotel restaurant 'Le Grand Balcon' is perfect to enjoy Greek gourmet cuisine served against unforgettable views of the Acropolis and the city skyline and for those who prefer trendy atmosphere with electric lounge music, the Frame will be the place to go either for a drink or for lunch/dinner. For guests arriving by car, parking is available.
We recommend this hotel especially for the location and view. We were able to walk to all the main attractions but be aware the hotel sits on a hill. The breakfast is very ample and gets you started. There are many restaurants a short walk down the hill and over at the shopping district. Be very wary of some of the taxi drivers who will try and over charge you. Make sure they put there meter on and it is set for zone 1 and not 2 which is for midnight to 5 am. It should only cost you about 25 euro from the airport to hotel. We only had one problem from hotel to airport so watch the meter carefully as some like to get you leaving. If they try to over charge write down Taxi number and report it as I did and I recieved a refund.

Hardly a 5 star property. I think it's more geared to escorted groups. Hotel not convenient to local transport and furnishings are somewhat tacky. The beautiful view from the rooftop deck/restaurant is hampered by the tacky furnishings. Pool is small and requires more deck space. Bathroom are out of date and need updating.
One highlight - the hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating.

We had a short but very pleasant stay at St George Lycabettus in Athens. The service was fabulous. We will absolutly recommend our freinds to stay there. The bed was fantastic. I think that the only hotel-bed that messure that standard is at Hilton in Doha, Qatar.
The thing that impressed us most was though the people working in the reception.

It was great. Having an extra cot in the room was great too. Call to make sure that the pool is in working order though, it wasnt for 2 days and having 7 year old twins in Athens, we went there for the roof top pool.

Excellent room, location and staff! Breakfast was very good although it seems a bit pointless putting the smoking section right next to the food and the non-smoking the furthest away. You definately need to get a taxi to and from hotel if you are carrying bags as nearest Metro is some distance away and the hotel itself is halfway up the highest hill in the city. There are good eating places near the hotel but for value for money avoid Kolonaki Square - strictly for people watching only. At the time of our stay (April) the fitness centre was closed for renovation and the roof top pool was only open until 5pm (very cold water!). Our room was large enough for two but the bed could have accommodated 5! We would recomend it to anyone and would love to stay there again.
