Sea View Hotel

The Sea View is literally directly across the street from Bal Harbour shopping, it is a great location. The lobby of the building is very nice.
The front desk staff were a little difficult to communicate with and at one point they were going to charge us to swtich rooms if a maintainance issue wasn't resolved for us. Fortunately it was-- the lock on our patio door was broken and it took maintaince >1 hour to fix it, but fortunately when we returned from dinner it was all ok and we didn't have to change rooms. We had an "ocean view" double bed room on the first floor. Our room was huge, but the ocean view required you looking out across the roof to the left to see the ocean.
They charge $10 for a chair at the pool or at the beach. Path along beach is great!

I was impressed with the location and the cleanliness of the rooms, but the service of the hotel staff (aside from the pool staff) left much to be desired. I felt that the front desk staff was very disinterested and didn't even acknowledge our presence. In addition, the concierge desk was usually empty and I was left to wait for fifteen minutes at a time before anyone at the adjacent front desk would pay attention to me. Moreover, the additional costs for conveniences at the hotel were unnecessary. There was a charge to use the business center, and the drinks and food at the hotel bar and restaurant were on par with what the nearby luxury mall restaurants were charging. In conclusion, the room was great, the location was great, the pool was great, but stick to the Bal Harbour shops for food and bring your own laptop.
