Built in 1992, the warm and friendly hotel recently underwent renovation. There are a total of 47 guestrooms spread over 7 floors, of which 7 are single rooms and 40 are doubles. Various facilities are available to guests including a pleasant foyer with lifts, safes and a 24-hour reception. There is also a TV room, a bar, a pub and an air-conditioned à la carte restaurant to make use of and Internet access, as well as room and laundry services are also available. This hotel is situated directly on the Calle Aragon, close to the Sagrada Familia. Countless shopping and entertainment venues, as well as some of the city's best tourist sights, are within walking distance of the hotel, or may easily be reached by making use of public transport. We chose Catalonia Albeniz for the closeness in proximity to our daugher's residence, although we found that it took more time to get to our tourist destinations. At checkin the elevator was out of service, and we were forced wait a short while to retire up to the 4th and 5th floors. There were six in our party, and perhaps the saying "you get what you pay for" is true in this instance. We had two rooms with 3 beds in each, which left little space for manuevering around luggage. Our rooms were in the back of the hotel, and we couldn't help but notice, while the maids were cleaning the rooms to the front of the hotel, they were much larger! We had been forwarned about breakfast by experienced travelers, however we found the continental breakfast to be substantial and good. Upon checkout the final day, there was amajorwaterleakandluggagehadtobecarriedownstairs.
