The Medinaceli is a comfortable hotel with good rooms (not too small). The rooms are upgraded which feels comfortable.

The people at the reception could be giving you a better welcome and helpfull. On the other hand, we could leave our luggage earlier before we could enter the room.

It was good value for money, especially cause the location of the hotel is close to the harbour as well to the Ramblas.
It was very easy to catch a taxi near the hotel if you did not want to walk to the centre.

The best thing about the hotel was it's great location - very convenient for accessing the Ramblas, port area and much else besides.

The rooms were also tastefully furnished although it is worth avoiding rooms 9 and 10 as these have no exterior windows and so can be very dark.

The one major downside was the really appalling smell that pervaded the hotel lobby. It really did smell like an open-air toilet and persisted throughout our 3 day visit. This certainly put you off using the hotel's public amenities which surround the lobby.

We found the location excellent and the staff to be extremely supportive. We found their breakfast costs too high and ate just around the corner - there are lots of choices everywhere.... Our room had no windows to the exterior (interior to 'lobby' only). We needed help with the air conditioner controls, and then it worked fine. I would recommend a stay there - close to port and La Rambla street. The hotel feels a touch small and there are fancier ones that cost much more near Catalunya Square but this suited us just fine! I would, moreover, strongly recommend Skoosh. They did everything I expected of them and more...

Stayed at this hotel as an overnighter before a cruise. The hotel is in a good location within a couple of minutes walk of Las Ramblas (10 minutes from port Barcelona). The reception staff were helpful in providing us with discount tickets for the official Barcelona Bus Tour, saving us some 10% or so on ticket prices. The standard of decoration was good throughout the hotel and cleanliness was excellent. If you're looking for top notch luxury, this hotel is probably not for you. But if like us, you are going for a short break and need a place to rest your head - you would be hard pressed to be disappointed. The one minor problem was the breakfast. Poor selection of food, but given the number of local cafes and restaurants and bakeries - you won't struggle to find alternative options! Hotel recommended for short breaks or pre-cruise.
