Alsterhof Hotel -
Alsterhof Hotel is a 4 star hotel in Berlin. The hotel Alsterhof is an oasis of calm in the centre of buzzing Berlin. Located just off the famous KuDamm, in the heart of West Berlin, the hotel is within easy walking distance of most of the attractions, shops and restaurants in this bustling part of the city, and is only metres from the nearest underground station, providing you with easy access to the rest of the city. Within easy walking distance are the KaDeWe, the zoological garden, the Tiergarten, and the main train station for West Berlin.

The hotel has 200 attractively decorated and comfortably furnished rooms, with en suite bathroooms (all with bathtub except for a few single rooms), make up mirror, iron, hairdryer, pay and cable TV, safe, internet connections, minibar, trouser press, and enough space for a seating area to relax in. You will receive a complimentary newspaper in the morning.

The Alsterhof has a stylish relaxation area complete with steam bath, sauna, experience shower, solarium and fitness room, including treadmills, rowing machines, bicyles and cross trainer, plus freeweights and gymnastic balls for those who like to keep in trim. The hotel has a stylish restaurant with a wintergarden looking onto the central garden area, and an authentic pub with separate entrance, which makes it a popular place for the locals too. Coffee, cocktails and snacks are available from 10am in the Scala Bar in the hotel foyer. There are two internet terminals offering free high speed access in the lobby.

We felt that the Alsterhof was somewhat lacking for a four star hotel. There were no extra shampoos or bubble baths for example, just the basic soap dispenser, this despite our being given a very large suite. The breakfast was also adequate but not exceptional and probably not worth the extra. The sauna and steamrooms were very nice, but there was a charge of nine Euros per person to use them. The hotel is well situated and the room waas quiet and the bed comfortable.

this is my second visit to berlin and my second stay at the Alsterhof. The hotel is plush and incredibely good value. The position is excellent.Just off the Ku'damm in West Berlin and 30 minutes train ride from Schonefeld airport. There are many restaurants nearby and a short bus ride to the Branderburg Gate and the Mitte area of Berlin.

A basic and small room that was adequate, but certainly not up to a 4 star standard. Breakfast not included. 2 very short local mobile calls from the room cost me 42 Euros which is exorbitant. Only real positive is the location.

I stayed at the Alsterhof for a long weekend in August. The location is excellent as it is about 10 minutes walk from the ZOO S-bahn station, 30 minutes from schonefeld airport. The hotel is situated a stone throw from the Ku'damm. My room was spacious and very clean. The reception staff efficient. I did not have any breakfast as it was not included in my booking. There are plenty of restaurants in the area .I shall stay at the Alsterhof again on my next visit to Berlin which is next December.
