If you're looking for budget accommodation in Berlin with easy access to all the sights and attractions, the Generator is the perfect place to stay. Newly built, and with a funky design, the hotel offers excellent value for money, plus the chance to mingle with like-minded travellers and exchange your travelling stories. The Generator is located very close to an S Bahn station, from where there are fast trains all through the day to every part of Berlin, allowing you easy access to restaurants, clubs, and sights. Accommodation is simple, but of a very high standard of cleanliness. Rooms are clean and fresh, some with en suite shower rooms, some with shared shower facilities. Towels, paper and soap are all provided for your convenience. The highlight of the Generator is the public areas. The restaurant - dubbed "fuel stop" and featuring an industrial theme, is where you'll be able to find a hearty continental breakfast in the mornings, included in the price. Good value meals are also available here throughout the day. In the "turbine" hall you'll find a large area kitted out with stylish metal furniture, where you can eat and relax. The snazzy circular bar is a favourite, featuring mtv, pool tables, and a beer garden in the summer. The hotel provides pcs for internet access, and a separate quiet room with more pcs, and information on where to go and what to do in Berlin. NB. some rooms have en suite facilities, some offer shared bathrooms on the same floor. Please take note of this when booking a room.

It could be better

If you don't have the bad look to end up having to share a room with people who never take a shower it can be a wonderful experiance otherwise you'll have to wait in this place till another room become available. I think the Hostel itself is good beside this litle inconvenience and the fact that they don't offer lunch. Nevertheless they still have private rooms available... And pay atention to the fact that "One single bed in a room" is one thing and PRIVATE room is another much more expensive...

Generator Hostel Berlin - no frills but great price

It's a Hostel. Don't expect a 5 star hotel you wont get one. What you will get is a good quality Hostel. Go there if you want a cheap holiday and a place to crash at the end of a heavy night. Don't go there if you want a quite, romantic holiday. Very good deal with Skoosh.

Generator Hostel was Amazing

Definitely Recommend it! Pretty Awesome Breakfast for being free! Great rooms for the money! Only issue is that there is not much nearby, but that's not much of a problem considering the train and the shuttle and buses all are within a block from the hostel in any direction!

A summercamp for lazy teenagers

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful — First of all: if you are in a trip with your wife or your girlfriend, give up. Their double room has not a double bed (as is usual to understand by the description of the hotels), but two single ones. If you are more than 22 years old, forget it too. The guests are, normally, mid class teenagers who don't respect anybody but their group. They talk loud, use the whole laundry (which has a small number of machines for the size of the hotel) for hours and walk through the corridors in underwear and pajamas. The localization is not good too. If the Berlin transportation system wasn't really good, I would be arrested with my wife (and we are not too "old", we are about 30) in a distant suburb with nothing to see for 5 days. But if you are a lazy teen, you must like it.
