The Regent comes out on top after a very disappointing stay at the Schlosshotel im Grunwald (where the 'emperor has no clothes') and the Kempinski Bristol that is superb, but not as luxurious or spacious. The Regent offers outstanding, flawless service...from everyone. Very quiet, large, comfortable rooms w/ well equiped bathrooms, although the cable TV system can be irritating. Smart, understated classical style is a nice antidote to hip, hard edge minimalism found in most Berlin hotels. Breakfast is delicious, bountiful and impecable. Lovely, chic terrace with fountain is an oasis in middle of city for drinks or light meal. Location is hard to beat, with oblique views of magnificent Gendarmenmarkt. Only suggestion is free internet at these prices. The best hotel in Berlin, in our experience. (The Kempinski Adlon we found too sprawling and a bit "1990's" pretenious w/ too much marble. Best left to big convention groups.)
