The St. Johns Hotel, Solihull (formerly known as the Renaissance Solihull Hotel) offers a stylish and contemporary setting (public areas all recently refurbished) with extensive car parking also available and guests can make use of the modern leisure club with indoor swimming pool. This hotel is nearby to the Sea Life Centre, the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and also Cadbury World. A pleasant property in an easy to reach location. (GW 10/2008) This hotel is set in the leafy suburbs of Solihull just a short walk from the town centre. It is four miles from the national exhibition centre (NEC) and international airport and ten miles from Birmingham. It is also an excellent base from which to visit many of England's best loved tourist attractions, including Warwick Castle, Coventry Cathedral, the Cotswolds and Stratford Upon Avon. The middle of the hotel is a traditional red brick house and a modern block has been extended on either side. Medium in size with some comfortable seating, the lobby is modern in design. The St John's Hotel boasts 180 ensuite guest rooms offering a balance of function and style. All rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished, with luxury bedding to guarantee a relaxing stay. There are connecting rooms which are particularly beneficial to families and several ground floor bedrooms which have been specifically designed for disabled guests. Rooms are all in good condition.

The Hotel itself from outside did not look the best, however once in reception we were greated by very helpful but busy staff in nice surroundings, the Hotel was busy with 2 weddings so it had a good atmosphere. The rooms were as per other reviews very clean but tired and in need of a refurb, also the bed was so soft you just role into each other constantly. We requested breakfast in our room and were dissapointed with a cold cooked full english been delivered as the Hotel charges Â£14 per head for this. Leisure facilities were ok if not a little small but clean. All in all we enjoyed the atmosphere and had a good break in the hotel. We would use it again.

St Johns Hotel less than 4*

We stayed here over a weekend as part of a conference. On arrival check in staff were polite and friendly, we were given room 307. We got to our room which was adequate though it was a scorcher of a day and the old fashioned air con did nothing 18 degrees being the coolest and having no effect whatsoever. The shower was ok though the cheap shower curtains they have made it impossible to have a shower without being attacked by the curtain the entire time. The bed was awful very soft and my boyfriend being heavier than me once in bed would have me rolling towards him all night. All in all a poor 4* standard hotel which we will not be staying in again.

Yes I would recommend to others. Staff were pleasant. My expectations were met. I think it was OK value for money.

Good value for money, would recommend it. Watch out for a lack of parking spaces on nights where there is a wedding or similar function!
