Loved the beautiful Hotel...

Staff very welcoming and hospitable. Very comfortable and clean rooms. The buffet Breakfast was enough to keep you going for hours .Neighbourhood quiet and very accessible to The Grand Place and all the sights, shops and restaurants. The Metro is at your doorstep if you want to travel further. I would go back again

Metropole - Grand European Hotel

 4/5

Review by: , Washington, United States

Stayed: Aug 2010

I'm sure it was a 5 star in some area, for instance the public rooms, but in our room. It was a little down at the heels in some of the hallways, as well. But it was a very good value for the money. The staff was OUTSTANDING and would do anything to help guests. And the location is great. I would visit again but might request a more recently renovated room.

Metropole Hotel

I would definitely recommend this hotel! The rooms were spacious for a European hotel, the lobby was elegant and the restaurant that we had breakfast in was lovely. Our rates included breakfast, so .was a plus. It was one of the largest breakfast buffets that we had! The hotel staff was very helpful and we felt welcomed...
The location was fabulous since we could walk anywhere for shopping, restaurants, even the movie theatre was across the street. The metro station was closeby also

I would highly recommend the Metropole. I got a great rate and was worried what type of room I would receive, but the room was lovely, the service wonderful and the breakfast (which was included in my rate) was superb. I would highly recommend the Metropole and Swoosh worked perfectly as well.

2nd Stay at the Metropole

 4/5

Review by: , Brooklyn, United States

Stayed: Mar 2009

Hotel Metropole is in a great location, just about 5 minutes away from Grand Place but in a more "living" part of the city as opposed to tourist central. Right across from a movie threater and grocery store. The interior of the hotel is very impressive and grand and has a wonderful old Europe feel to it. The cafe outside is absolutely perfect for people watching. This time, my room was in the renovated part of the hotel and I must say I was disappointed. The furnishings were more modern and bland and the room was small. I really loved the first room in the old wing of the hotel I stayed in last time. However, staff was very accomodating, arranging a taxi very early in the morning and having breakfast delivered to the room with no extra charge. Would reccommend!

A grand hotel, well located, friendly service

 5/5

Review by: , Sowerby Bridge, United Kingdom

Stayed: Aug 2008

Very good indeed - I'd go back.

Pros: Free(!) minibar comprising of two beers, two bottles of water and two Cokes. A fine breakfast was served in a very smart dining room. Close to the attractions. The hotel's cafe on the street was perfect for a relaxing drink. Service was very professional and friendly, they were pleased to help when we arrived early at 10.30am and let us check in. Good value for money.

Cons: The single room we booked was tiny but the double was fine (although not huge).

Great location, beautiful lobby, very good breakfast, courteous and helpful staff, well refurbished rooms

Drawbacks: one of the elevators is very old and very pretty, but it's difficult to open the door and the elevator can depart before you can open it

my room at the end of the hallway had lots of creaky noises all night long

Construction on the first floor (2nd by US definitions)was a major inconvenience for those wishing to take the stairs, from higher floors, as it was cordoned off and I was obliged to go back up the stairs to the second floor to take the difficult elevator.
