Sandman Hotel Calgary Downtown

Sandman Hotel Calgary Downtown
Excellent location

Review by: Suvi , Espoo, Finland

Stayed: Apr 2013

The hotel is on the edge of downtown - easy to navigate but quite peaceful. The free train was a nice surprice! The hotel has seen its best days, but it was ok for one night.

After a busy day it was great to crawl into the King Size bed. The hotel was really quiet and I had a great sleep. Skoosh was one of the few websites still showing availability when I booked this, so glad to have found a room. Thanks Skoosh!

Good value for money. Only complaints were that hot water took forever to come and the air conditioner was very noisy.

Hotel Arts

Hotel Arts
good hotel but very basic room

Review by: Michael , Vancouver, Canada

Stayed: Sep 2011

I've stayed at Hotel Arts many times and liked it but had no idea they had such basic rooms available. It was ok. A comfortable bed and decent space but the bathroom was tiny with a lousy shower stall. I would recommend booking directly with the hotel for a better room.

This is an excellent hotel. People are very friendly and attentive. You can tell the management is customer focused. It was the best value I have received at a city hotel. I would definitely do it again.

Attentive, friendly staff. Clean, well kept property. Comfortable accommodations. Not in a glamorous location, yet well located with close/easy access to major east-west and north-south routes.

Sandman Hotel Calgary West

Sandman Hotel Calgary West

Review by: Michael , Newton Abbot, United Kingdom

Stayed: Jan 2008

The staff were VERY good - not just one but all of them. The double room we were put in had 2 beds but we had hoped there would just be one large bed (double as oposed to single room). So on the second day we were moved and actually given a small suite. On the last day we were able to extend our departure by a few hours although the hotel was due to be full that night. Free internet was great. Only bad point was the rather dark colour scheme and short of space in the first room when there are two beds. Otherwise one of the best hotels at that price I have stayed in and I have stayed at well over 1000 hotels throughout the world (ex airline flight crew).

Comfort Inn And Suites South

Comfort Inn And Suites South

Review by: Malcolm Cumberlidge , Harrow, United Kingdom

Stayed: Jul 2007

Not in a particularly pleasant location, being in the middle of a large trading estate. Looks quite discouraging from the outside. However, once inside the rooms are comfortable, clean and of a reasonable size. Staff are polite, if a little functional. The hotel has a good pool for kids, with a water slide. If you have a room at the front of the hotel, expect a lot of traffic noise; we were quiet at the rear of the premises. Unusualy for Canada, breakfast is included. However, this is in a small breakfast room and only comprises cereal, toast, do-it-yourself waffles with luke warm tea or coffee. All self service, with disposable plates and plastic cutlery. There is no restaurant for evening meals, so good luck in the local fast food establishments. If you want a quick stopover for a night before or after the airport, this is fine. For a longer stay in the area I would look elsewhere.

Acclaim Hotel Calgary Airport

Acclaim Hotel Calgary Airport
Pretty good

Review by: Hello Nicky , Leatherhead, United Kingdom

Stayed: Sep 2009

I would recommend this hotel, but for people who are vacationing in Calgary you DEFINITELY need to have a car.

I found it good value for money, in terms of quality of decor, comfort and cleanliness. I have stayed in the Delta Bow Valley downtown before, and it was just as good as that (with a real hairdryer in the bathroom!). Breakfast was OK (usually two hot things (sausages and omelette, bacon and french toast/pancakes) bagels, toast, cereal, yoghurt...).

Downsides - if your room is by the lift, be warned that the lift makes a loud "bing bong" noise that can easily wake a lighter sleeper.

Also, if you are on the fourth floor watch out for the hot tub users on the roof - they stomp a lot from early until quite late. Soundproofing from other rooms was good, however.

Note, there is no restaurant yet!

The Westin Calgary

The Westin Calgary

Review by: Rh , Boston, United States

Stayed: Sep 2007

The hotel was good although a little tired and dated. The service from front desk, to room service, to concierge was excellent. The restaurant, whilst also offering great service and wines, was lacking in quality of the meals especially given the price. Visitors would be advised to eat out. The location could not be faulted. Excellent fitness facilities. I would rate it as 3-3+ stars.

Ramada Hotel Downtown Calgary

Ramada Hotel Downtown Calgary

Didn't have a problem with anything. It's a bit of an older hotel but has been updated and they are continuing with renovations. Staff were friendly & helpful. Decent location-- downtown calgary isn't very big so you can walk pretty much anywhere downtown in < 15 mins. I'd recommend it, it seemed like decent value to me.
