Excellent location

The hotel is on the edge of downtown - easy to navigate but quite peaceful. The free train was a nice surprice! The hotel has seen its best days, but it was ok for one night.

I chose Sandman City Centre for location and price and I read lots of reviews beforehand. Hotels in Calgary are expensive compared to other places (like Vancouver) and perhaps my one disappointment was that breakfast wasn't included. The girls on the front desk were very friendly. Room comfortable and clean. Free internet and Business Centre for printing boarding pass etc. Calgary is an interesting city which doesn't really sell itself. Information centre is at the base of the Tower but it is VERY hard to find and locals don't even know where it is! The light rail is great and free for the city centre and station is about 50mtrs. from the Sandman. Bus 300 goes to airport for $2.75 - brilliant - stop is 3 blocks from Sandman (only about 10 min easy walk) get map from information centre. First time I'd used Skoosh - everything great, thanks!

Sandman hotel downtown

Yes however great the location and facilities were, our room lacked maintenance. The microwave didn't work, there was a great deal of noise from the light rail, the air conditioner was inefficient, the shower leaked and the hot tub was so hot you couldn't get in it. It was very good value, had a good view, good size room and the king bed was very comfy. A great location with good food outlets close by. Was adequate for our 5 night stay for the Calgary Stampede.

We loved the Sandman Downtown Calgary

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful — Highly recommended. Easy to get to. Loved the bar and restaurant we were able to have a drink once we arrived. It was slightly expensive compared to the other hotels for the trip but for a city was good value for money. It was quite far out of town but only took about 20 mins to walk to the calgary tower and we could have jumped on the main free tram line. Very pleased with our stay.
