We just returned from two weeks in Cancun at the hotel zone. Since we had a 7:10 am return flight, we decided to stay the last night at the Courtyard Cancun Airport. They offer free shuttle service every half hour to the airport starting at 5 am. They also had wake up service. The hotel is very nice (and quiet.) It also offered free internet use (two computers). They have a free shuttle once a day (at least in January) at noon that takes you to the Omni Resort in the hotel zone where you can use the great pools and beach, There is a pool at the Courtyard. We ate at Captain's Cove and watched the sunset over the lagoon (across the street from the Omni) and returned to the hotel on the shuttle (6 pm). We never ate at the Courtyard restaurant. We would stay there again.

Either stay closer to downtown or stay somewhere else. There's nothing around the hotel and it will cost you $60 cab ride round trip everyday. Also, call the hotel for a ride from the airport to hotel. Airport cabs will screw you out of $30 for a 10 min cab ride.
