We found this hotel great in the location for restaurants and the beaches.
The gym and water exercise glasses were great and lots of fun.
I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel

There was no refrigerator in our room, small beds, no conditioner. The location on the beach was great, along with breakfast buffet and restaurant nice. Great huts and lounge chairs. It was a good value for the price definitely. Yes expectations met.

I enjoyed my stay at Barcelo Costa.
Staff: Very good.
Food: Very good.
Room: Very good for Mexico (basic, but comfortable).
Beach: Very Good.

This hotel is very loud. The hotel lobby bar entertainment is loud, the pool entertainment is loud. The shows are loud. There are a lot of American youth getting drunk and having a good time. If this sounds good to you, then this is the perfect hotel!

If you want quiet evenings, keep looking!

I would reccomend this hotel to others, it is close to the local resturant and nightclubs. The ocean is right out the back door, all of the employees are great and the rooms are simple but comfortable. The food is average, I would suggest making reservations for the other hotel resturants on site for a change in food options.

This was a wonderful hotel on the best beach in Cancun. Given the hotel's location, the beach was not distroyed by the recent hurricane. The sand is powder fine, and the thatched umbrellas offered plenty of shade if you need to stay out of the sun. Mario worked our area of the beach with a passion delivering water, food, drinks, even suntan lotion - whatever was needed. The service was excellent. The hotel also has a beautiful pool - but we are beach people so that was where we hung out.

We were thoroghly impressed with Live Aqua. From the time we walked into the hotel until the time we left everyone was wonderful. This was the perfect place to relax and get away from the real world. CAUTION: If you are looking for a place to party this is probably not the hotel for you. But if you want to be waited on hand and foot, enjoy wonderful food, and endless drinks while relaxing this is a perfect spot.

The room, food, beach, and pools were perfect. The massage was the best we have ever had and we have had plenty. It might have been that we were already so relaxed and happy that the massage felt that much better.

It also helped that we got such a great deal at SKOOSH! The price at SKOOSH couldn't be beat.

The location is good. It's pretty close to a handful of cheap restaurant stands, and only a short walk to all the hip bars and shopping. The staff seemed really nice and eager to help too. My biggest complaint was a really bad oder in my room. I had to shut the bathroom door and open the window through all of my stay.

I would only recommend this hotel to younger persons 18-28. However, it is what i expected for a spring break destination. For the money, it was worth it. I would NOT recommend a family vacation here. There is a lot of partying into the early morning hours; hard to sleep.

You got what you paid for, but you where like an outcast from the hotelzone, and didn't really have a beach to go to..
Besides the bar was out of order

But the staff
They where great, so nice all the time.

We stayed in February 2011 and again Feb. 2012. Again in 2012, it is a good value resort; tired, but clean and well maintained. I would recommend it for people looking for a good value, quiet resort. It is a 10 min bus ride (cheap and efficient) from the party area, and a 15 minute cab ride from the airport. For 2012 there were no shortage of umbrellas, but there was a shortage of sun-loungers in good repair. The wi-fi, if you bring your own computer, has gone up to US$10/hr, US$16/day, or US$80 for the week. They also have pay to use computers in the lobby, but they are probably (I don't really know) even more expensive. It is primarily an "adult" resort. However, there are children at the resort, but it is certainly not competing with Disney, you will have to entertain them yourselves. The beach is super. The food, and the bars were good (the drinks are not watered down, but there is no top shelf alcohol). The waitstaff is friendly and housekeeping is very good (we leave a modest tip everyday). But then everyone at the resort expects to be tipped.

Great place in Cancun.
Looks really Mexican, nice atmosfere, kind people and good service.
Room with 2 large beds, for just 10 USD per night we got an upgrade for a room twice as big and en suite, with kitchen, bar, diningtable and bench, king size bed, airconditioning, large tv, iron board, separate sitting area, extra large bathroom and more windows than a regular room. The regular room smelled kind of moist. The room en suite had another advantage, the sleeping area was on the back side, what was really quite with all the Cancun music at night.

Cleaning is every day, change of towels and bedlinnen when you prefer. Room, bathroom and bed were very clean indeed, no bugs etc.

Most people that stay here are Mexican. Some Americans and some Dutch.

Big size pool, what was most of the time a private pool when we were there. And especially compared to other hotels, where the pool was packed.

Also a laundry place to do your laundry and drying for free. Free internet.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was quiet and the courtyard is full of beautiful greenery. The hotel is on the harbor, so you have beautiful boats to look at during meals.

The hotel was a bit rundown. We changed rooms twice, once because the patio door was stuck and once because the bathroom smelled of vomit. They were quick to change us and make sure we were happy.

Finding the hotel is difficult!! It's off the main road (kulkukan) on the harbor side. Theres a little acess road at the foot of the bridge that will take you back to the hotel. Ample parking available.

There is a great restaruant walking distance (RIO). Expensive but GREAT!!!

OVERALL, The price was fantastic!! The accomadations were acceptable.

We loved staying here. The staff are great! they take great pride in serving each guest and really go the extra mile. the rooms are nice and the pool is great. the food and drinks are not cheap, but you are getting very good food and great drinks.

We thought $14.95 a day for intranet access was a little steep.also 6.00 dollars for a small bottle of water in the piano bar was a little steep,when a bottle of beer was the same price.but anyone would have to admit it was just pure elegence but for the price,it should be.h

Front desk staff spoke English well. Check in was easy and there was sufficient security on duty. Didn't have hot water although never called to complain. Kind of far away from major tourist attractions like night clubs and shopping area but buses were easy to take. Didn't get an ocean view from room but it was nice not having to go far to get to the beach. Overall it was acceptable for the price paid.

Its a fun place if you like lots of activities and are not offended by topless sunbathing! Their is a quiet pool area but its more of a partying crowd. Food is good with a varied menu to suit all preferences. Its not a 5 star property but the price is not five star either! Most of the rooms are adequate size and have been updated with flatscreen tv's etc...
