Staff very friendly, hotel very clean and design updates were very trendy and cheery. Bed was extremely comfortable; food at the 312 Restaurant was top notch. My only negative critique was that the room was very, very small, even by Downtown Chicago standards. The bathroom was so small that the sink was about the size of a cereal bowl and you had to almost lean over the toilet to get to it. I've had larger bathrooms in 2 star hotels in Europe. However, it was immaculate, well appointed, and perfectly fine for our short stay.

All of the common areas had a nice feel to it, not your standard stuffy hotel, but a friendly staff and an atmosphere of 'hip/trendy'. Missed out on the free breakfasts and happy hours, but that was all my fault. I guess my only slight dissapointment was that the rooms didn't look as perfect as those shown on the website. They were small, which is actually okay by me, but it didn't have that perfect/romantic sparkle that I was expecting. If I hadn't had such high expectations based on their own website, I probably would have rated it at 'Very good'.

I was able to book at a VERY favorable rate of $130 per night in August. The room was on the smaller side, but ample enough room for one person for several nights with a desk to work at. The HD TV was more than I expected. The bathroom and closet are very small, but, again, sufficient for one, particularly at the price point. The bed and bedding were most comfortable and the room was quiet and dark. The bar and restaurant next door is a bit on the expensive side but has very good food and drink. For my needs, the hotel was a perfect location and within walking distance of everywhere I needed to go - including the Blue Line so I could get to/from O'Hare for $2 bucks each way. I will definitely stay again!

My expectations were met.

We spent three days in Chicago at the Allegro Chicago Hotel. The staff was friendly and very accommodating: they booked us a room at 10 in the morning, the concierge was knowledgeable and helpful, the desk clerk printed our boarding passes for us when the guest-use computers went on the fritz. They also have complementary coffee and wine served every day in the lobby which is spacious and decorated in Art Deco style.
Only caveats were that our room was on the tight side, but we did not spend much time in the room, and the hotel, although convenient to the theatre district, is a bit of a walk to other areas of interest if walking is not your thing. However, the subway and El are only two blocks away.
The Allegro Hotel helped make our visti to Chicago a fun and memorable experience.

The hotel was fine - a good and reasonably priced minibar. Convenient Loop location. But the decor was a very poor attempt at "trendy", and the bed was a bit small.
