We love the rooms and the service. The staff always smiled and said hi. the rooms were very comfortable. I would recommend The James Hotel if they have the money to spend.

After all the rave reviews in the Chicago Tribune and the New York Times I expected the hotel to be POSH! The rooms were modern and minimalist. Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean, and the TV was a nice flat screen. One the flip side the rooms were pretty tight. I was most disappointed in the lobby/bar area which is supposed to be "it." The hotel is already starting to show wear and dirt. The elevators were cramped. The ceilings in the elevators had twigs encased in glass and on top of the glass were yucky dust bunnies. The modern lobby didn't look chic...it looked tired and trashy. The dirty suitcase "art" didn't add to the asthetic. J Bar was small and so loud you could hear it from our room. Front desk did not have ear plugs. Good locale, but not worth the $$$$. OK if UR young/single.

Service from the front desk to the rooms was excellent. Hotel is very cool, contemporary and has a great vive. Will make sure to stay there every time I go to Chicago.

I highly recommend The James. It offers a tremendous location, attentive but not cloying service, an excellent restaurant, very comfortable beds all in a contemporary atmosphere. One of Chicago's better hotels and therefore a good value.

I was deciding between the W Lakeshore and The James, and I was very happy I chose the latter. Great room, great staff, great bar, great design; every detail of my stay was well considered. And without all the hype of the W, The James cost less. What more could you ask for?

yes. we arrived at 8 am, they got us a room right away and gave us a late check out of 4 pm. We requested a floor as high as possible and they put us on the top floor in the room furthest away from the noise of the elevator. all great.

We stayed at the James for only one night and got a great deal from SKOOSH !!!! About $100 cheaper than anywhere else I looked !!!!! Awesome !!!! I wanted to stay at the W or the Hard Rock , but even there weekday rates were abit too much for only one night !! I'm very happy that I found The James !!!! The room was perfect ! Very nice layout , the huge LCD flatscreen , the very comfortable bed and bedding and also a great little bench and table area perfect for my laptop and FREE wifi !!!!! I would have loved to stay another night or three !!!!! The staff was very friendly and the location was close to clubs in the area , Rock N Roll McD's , Hard Rock Cafe , etc ... a prime location !!! I will most likely stay here again !

The room was very high design. Loved every moment there. Never have I felt so taken care of in such luxury. Very wonderful staff and the best location you could ask for. Highly reccomend The James. Also, great art everywhere!
