Copenhagen Strand Hotel is centrally located in the fashionable quarter in the heart of Copenhagen - around the Nyhavn Canal, The Royal Theatre and Kongens Nytorv Copenhagen Strand is easily reached from anywhere: it is close to trains and busses, the airport and the Oresund Bridge. Copenhagen Strand offers 174 cosy rooms and suites, all furnished in a rustic and maritime way. The hotel also overlooks the sea so, even though its centrally located there is a feeling of space. As a converted warehouse the hotel has a very individual feel to it, enhanced by the owners to make this an exceptional property for its category. . The exclusive 3-star hotel is situated on the waterfront in one of the harbour's original warehouses. It's a charming hotel in a peaceful, yet accessible location and ideal for travellers looking for a character hotel. The single and double rooms at this hotel don't allow for extra beds so those wanting triples or family rooms should opt for the executive rooms. The rooms all have a wide range of amenities, some with high speed internet access but all with mini-bar, trouser press. They have a lovely fresh feel to them with blue and yellow furnishings. Rooms on some levels have wooden floors, on others carpet. Guests in the superior rooms have the benefit of better views as they overlook the sea. There are also additional amenities such as tea and coffee making, iron/ironing board and a fax machines and bathrobes. The larger ones also have two sinks in the bathrooms. The buffet breakfast is typically Scandinavian with a wide-range of cold dishes although hot food is limited to boiled eggs. Although the hotel has no parking facilities of its own there is a lot of on-street metered parking (free after 6 pm) in the vicinity. The Hotel Copenhagen Strand is part of the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group which consists of 9 privately owned hotels in Copenhagen. All 9 hotels are characterized by their individuality and range from tourist class over first class to deluxe.

Hotel was well-located for walking to major sites. Hotel staff were very helpful, directions, dinner suggestions etc. Room was clean and well equipped, a little small by NA standards. We rented bicycles from hotel which were in excellent condition. Breakfast had good selection, buffet style. Price high by North American standards but probably good value in line with other hotels in Copenhagen. After reading negative reviews re small room sizes, uncaring staff etc, the hotel exceeded my expectations.

The hotel is very clean, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
The location is excellent in that it is right by Nyhavn (~3 blocks) and that's where some of the better restaurants (outside of Tivoli Gradens) are located. Although the area by Tivoli and the main train station has the bulk of the hotels in Copenhagen, it is VERY noisy there and very dirty. The Strand is located on the water (somewhat) away from the hustle and bustle, but still within a few minutes walk to the action.
The Metro station (Kongens Nytorv) is about a 7 minute walk (~4 blocks), the Stroget, the shopping district wher no cars are allowed begins off of the Kongens Nytorv plaza.
My only gripes are the price and the internet connection. For $300/night I expect more in the way of service, but then again, this is Copenhagen, where a bottle of water in a bodega (yes, they have those) cost ~$3 (15.50 DKK). The hard line internet connection was down for the 4 days I spent at the hotel, and the wireless was only reliable in the lobby - though I was able to get a weak signal by being on the "0" floor (yes, that's a zero).

I would definitely recommend the Strand hotel and look to stay there again if I revisit the city. Its location was perfect - close to the city and spitting distance from Nyhavn, but quiet and overlooking the water. the rooms were basic, clean and comfortable. I was most impressed by the staff who couldn't have been more friendly or helpful.
