Hotel was well-located for walking to major sites. Hotel staff were very helpful, directions, dinner suggestions etc. Room was clean and well equipped, a little small by NA standards. We rented bicycles from hotel which were in excellent condition. Breakfast had good selection, buffet style. Price high by North American standards but probably good value in line with other hotels in Copenhagen. After reading negative reviews re small room sizes, uncaring staff etc, the hotel exceeded my expectations.

The hotel is very clean, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent in that it is right by Nyhavn (~3 blocks) and that's where some of the better restaurants (outside of Tivoli Gradens) are located. Although the area by Tivoli and the main train station has the bulk of the hotels in Copenhagen, it is VERY noisy there and very dirty. The Strand is located on the water (somewhat) away from the hustle and bustle, but still within a few minutes walk to the action. The Metro station (Kongens Nytorv) is about a 7 minute walk (~4 blocks), the Stroget, the shopping district wher no cars are allowed begins off of the Kongens Nytorv plaza. My only gripes are the price and the internet connection. For $300/night I expect more in the way of service, but then again, this is Copenhagen, where a bottle of water in a bodega (yes, they have those) cost ~$3 (15.50 DKK). The hard line internet connection was down for the 4 days I spent at the hotel, and the wireless was only reliable in the lobby - though I was able to get a weak signal by being on the "0" floor (yes, that's a zero).

Quiet, relaxed and friendly. Rooms comfortable although quite warm. All-in-all, a good stay.

I would definitely recommend the Strand hotel and look to stay there again if I revisit the city. Its location was perfect - close to the city and spitting distance from Nyhavn, but quiet and overlooking the water. the rooms were basic, clean and comfortable. I was most impressed by the staff who couldn't have been more friendly or helpful.
