The hotel is Copenhagen's leading hotel and is therefore perfect for those after sheer luxury during their stay. Its reputation goes before it and this hotel does not fail to deliver.

The hotel is a landmark hotel which enjoys a central location next Stroeget (Copenhagen's shopping street), and the Royal theatre and the Ferry and Hydrofoil terminals. Nyhavn and its numerous bars and restaurants is just across the roundabout at the front of the hotel.

It is a distinguished traditional hotel both inside and out with the actual building dating back to the sixteenth century. It is a stunning property to look at from the outside.

The actual reception area is not very big but it adjoins a sumptuous seating area. The general feel is traditional in truly deluxe surroundings.

All rooms are comfortable and well decorated incorporating all the facilities you would expect in a hotel of this stature. They are large in size and in exceptional condition and as are the bathrooms.

Only thing 5 Star is the location

Review by: RCM

Stayed: Nov 2010

In a word: THREADBARE. No evidence this hotel was restored in 07 as web indicates. Locals recommend hotel but I have a feeling they do this based on mis-perceived quality, perhaps romantic/nostalgic view. Completely mis-guided as there is nothing but the location making this near a 5 star property. Room lighting is terrible. Furniture, carpeting, bathroom fixtures, telephones, are old/worn. Breakfast cafe: chairs are stained, paper napkins not cloth, very outdated from shag carpeting to the overall fixtures. Property is in serious need of capital reconstruction.

Only reason to recommend this hotel is location, otherwise no reason to stay here. Certainly overpriced for the low grade quality of the property itself. Level of service: 3 star at best from cafe to reception.

Amazing view

Review by: An , Frederiksberg, Denmark

Stayed: Nov 2010

We booked a standard room and got a room at the top. It was spacious and pretty with a lovely bathroom.

But what really took our breath away was the view. We had a huge balcony going around the corner of the hotel and the view over Copenhagen was spectacular.

The spa is beautiful, the beds are good and the breakfast delicious.

Highly recommed for a romantic stay - if you get a good rate.

Excellent Breakfast

Review by: Lyn , Lexington, United States

Stayed: Jul 2010

Wonderful location in Copenhagen-very historic hotel. Not exactly a 5 star hotel in the U.S. The breakfast that was included in the price was outstanding! Not really good value for the money unless it is important to stay in "THE" hotel in Denmark. We did not use all of the facilities offered. The staff was very friendly, courteous and welcoming. Enjoyed the ambience of the hotel and the area.

It's what it should be

Review by: Janny , Tainan, Taiwan

Stayed: Jun 2010

If I forgot what the price of the room is, I would think it's excellent since everything in this hotel is elegant and classic, and the breakfast buffet is relatively more descent. I could imagine myself living in a 17th century castle. However, considering the price, I'll say it's what it should be. The internet requires a very high extra charge, and the price of every thing in the room service manu is scary. If money is not a big concern for you, I believe you can have a joyful stay.
