Review D'Angleterre Hotel

Only thing 5 Star is the location

 1/5

In a word: THREADBARE. No evidence this hotel was restored in 07 as web indicates. Locals recommend hotel but I have a feeling they do this based on mis-perceived quality, perhaps romantic/nostalgic view. Completely mis-guided as there is nothing but the location making this near a 5 star property. Room lighting is terrible. Furniture, carpeting, bathroom fixtures, telephones, are old/worn. Breakfast cafe: chairs are stained, paper napkins not cloth, very outdated from shag carpeting to the overall fixtures. Property is in serious need of capital reconstruction.

Only reason to recommend this hotel is location, otherwise no reason to stay here. Certainly overpriced for the low grade quality of the property itself. Level of service: 3 star at best from cafe to reception.

Amazing view

We booked a standard room and got a room at the top. It was spacious and pretty with a lovely bathroom.

But what really took our breath away was the view. We had a huge balcony going around the corner of the hotel and the view over Copenhagen was spectacular.

The spa is beautiful, the beds are good and the breakfast delicious.

Highly recommed for a romantic stay - if you get a good rate.

Excellent Breakfast

 3/5

Wonderful location in Copenhagen-very historic hotel. Not exactly a 5 star hotel in the U.S. The breakfast that was included in the price was outstanding! Not really good value for the money unless it is important to stay in "THE" hotel in Denmark. We did not use all of the facilities offered. The staff was very friendly, courteous and welcoming. Enjoyed the ambience of the hotel and the area.

It's what it should be

If I forgot what the price of the room is, I would think it's excellent since everything in this hotel is elegant and classic, and the breakfast buffet is relatively more descent. I could imagine myself living in a 17th century castle. However, considering the price, I'll say it's what it should be. The internet requires a very high extra charge, and the price of every thing in the room service manu is scary. If money is not a big concern for you, I believe you can have a joyful stay.

DÃngleterre Hotel Copenhagen

 4/5

Review by: , mannheim, Germany

Stayed: Apr 2010

Old school, with an impressive bar-restaurant, great location, very friendly staff and I was upgraded due to cancellations because of the ash clouds. The spa could be worked on soon and all together some "style refreshment" are due,but it had the typical charm of a slightly dated but well maintained grand hotel. I´m off again real soon...

we enjoyed the D/Angleterre

TheD'Angleterre hotel is extremely comfortable and welcoming. The position is great, next to the best shopping street, and across the square from the canal with all the cafes and restaurants.Although our rate did not include breakfast, we decided to have it in the hotel. It was very overpriced and disappointing. If we visit again we go to one of the canal restaurants where they served wonderful breakfasts for a fraction of the price. The d'Angleterre is well worth a visit, although it is expensive and we would definately recommend it for a comfortable stay.and we were not disappointed.

no top service and an old building and restaurant and it all needs refurbishment

It lives on its past in history: currently it is simply "bourgeois". I would not recommend it it to anyone. It is too expensive for an alleged Leading Hotels of the World chain member. Room has very old second hand furniture which needs to be repolstered. Service is inadequate, The restaurant has dreadful and cheap furniture, the staff has no time for the guests, the food and beverages did not meet expectations. It is definitely no more that a three star hotel. The only plus is its location.

Great location and history

 4/5

The location is unbeatable...close to the harbour, parks, shopping, metro, but not the 4-5 star I expected. We saw two very similar rooms (had to switch rooms as the first would not cool below 27 degrees C) that were both in need of an upgrade to the bathroom. The rest of the room was fine, but they must be giving one or two stars just for the hotel's history. We stayed there for 4 nights and would stay there again, but I would lower my expectations and hope to catch a good deal on the price.
