Mespil Hotel -
Renovated in 2003, this modern 5-storey city hotel lies in an elegant district of the city and comprises a total of 260 rooms. Facilities at this hotel are suited to both business and leisure travellers and include a bar and a restaurant.
Located beside the Grand Canal in Dublin, this hotel lies just a few minutes' walk from St. Stephen's Green, the government buildings and the national gallery. Links to the public transport network are to be found close by.
To start the day correctly, guests can enjoy a full Irish breakfast or a healthy continental breakfast in the Glaze Bistro. Morning coffee is served in the Terrace Bar. For variety at lunch time, guests can enjoy the great selection of food from the Carvery Lunch Menu in the Terrace Bar. Should visitors prefer something lighter they can enjoy a freshly made sandwich or wrap made to order from the Sandwich Bar in the Glaze Bistro. For dinner guests can relax and dine with imaginative dishes by evening twilight and gaze the passing canal waters from the Glaze Bistro.
On leaving Dublin Airport guests should follow signposts for N1/M1 motorway to the city centre. At the end of the motorway as approaching Drumcondra turn left onto Clonliffe Road and follow signposts for the East Link Tollbridge. At the junction with Tolka Quay Road take the 2nd exit off the roundabout and the Point Depot should be on the right-hand side. At the junction with the Tollbridge/North Wall Quay continue straight across the River Liffey, and then reach the East-Link Bridge Tollbooths. Continue straight for 0. 5 miles then take the 3rd exit at the roundabout. At the junction with R111 turn right at the traffic lights then turn left onto Londonbridge Road. Drive straight onto Haddington Road. Continue to a set of traffic lights - go straight across the intersection at Baggot Street Bridge and the hotel is 50 metres on the left.

Impressed with the Mespil

Review by: Tracy , Kent, United Kingdom

Stayed: Nov 2009

My daughter and I were delighted with our stay at the Mespil, November 2009. The hotel is well located, ten minutes' walk from Dublin City centre, fairly close to a DART railway station, which we used to visit the coast one day. The Mespil was very clean. Our room was a good size. The hotel's Irish breakfast was excellent. Staff were without exception helpful, giving lots of advice on places to visit, where to find them, etc. Also there were some good places to eat in the parade of shops just next to the hotel - we used the Thai and Behoff's fish and chip, both of them excellent. We felt that for the price we paid this was a very good value option. The only criticism was that our room, at the back of the hotel, had noise at night from deliveriy lorries on the street below.

Mespil Hotel

We would recommend the Mespil Hotel to others. It was clean, warm and comfortable. We were worried we may be a too far out of the centre but the local buses are great and buses 10 and 11 run close by and take you into town. The staff were very helpful and it was great to be able to leave our luggage in the safe room on our day of departure. Our only moans (and they are small ones) were that the orange juice at breakfast was incredibly weak and the curtain pulley in our oom was broken. Minor issues! We had a great three days and would return to The Mespil
