This traditional 'home away from home' style accommodation offers a true slice of Dublin life and was much frequented by the renowned Irish writer James Joyce during his early writing career. The 74 bedrooms of the hotel were fully refurbished in 2005. Facilities include 8 conference and meeting rooms, including the Yeats Suite which can cater for 150 delegates theatre style, a restaurant, bar and car park (fees may apply). The air-conditioned city hotel has a lobby area with 24-hour reception and check-out service, hotel safe, currency exchange facilities, a cloakroom and lift access. Guests may also take advantage of the wireless Internet access and room and laundry services.
Located on Dublin's Georgian Merrion Square and approximately five minutes' walk from Grafton Street beside Trinity College, this charming conference hotel is easily accessible using private and public transport, with Busuras bus station just 800 m away and Pearse station 100 m away. Dawson Street, with its bars, restaurants, pub and clubs, is just 300 m away, while the shops on Grafton Street are just a 400 m walk. Popular tourist attractions, such as Temple Bar, the National Museum, National Library and the government buildings, are all within the hotel's immediate vicinity. Dublin Airport is approximately 30 to 45 minutes (8 km) away.
There is a range of entertainment and sports facilities close by.
The test of a good Irish hotel has to be its bar and guest will not find a better place to enjoy a drink than in the No1 Bar where visitors are sure to enjoy the distinct Dublin atmosphere. Goldsmith's Restaurant has a charming old world Irish tearoom feel, serving traditional Irish fare. Guests can unwind as they watch the world go by through the restaurant's large street-facing windows. A breakfast buffet is served each morning, and dishes from set menus are served for lunch and dinner. À la carte options are also available for dinner.
If coming by car from the Dublin Airport, guests have to take M1/N1 to the city centre. This route takes them through Drumcondra onto Dorset Street. Turn left off Dorset Street onto South Fredrick Street which leads onto Parnell Square and onto O'Connell Street. Continue straight down O'Connell Street and over O'Connell Bridge onto D'Olier Street, then College Green and around Trinity College, staying in the left lane and continue on to Nassau Street. At the end of Nassau Street, keep left onto Lincoln Place, staying in the right-hand lane. At the next set of traffic lights, the hotel faces the O'Callaghan Davenport Hotel on the other side of the street.
