Tara Towers

Review by: David , Newton Abbot, United Kingdom

Pleasant location overlooking Dublin Bay. About an hour to walk into the city but plenty of busses from right outside, including Air Coach direct to airport. Rooms were okay. Suprised to find 'Smoking' rooms. All staff were friendly and helpfull. The food needs to be improved. Lasagne is not mince with melted cheese on top. Drinks are pricey. All in all, not too bad.

Tara Hotel is a great location for RDS statdium

Review by: maureen , derry, United Kingdom

The Tara Hotel was the perfect location for the RDS stadium, where we were going to a concert. It was a straight walk to and from the stadium from the hotel (about 20 minute walk) and I would recommend it to others who are attending the RDS. Free parking was one of the reasons I booked there, as well as its location. I did get parked, but the spaces were limited. There is another car park for the hotel across the street, though this one is a paid car park. It was excellent value for money. The atmosphere was buzzing and friendly and staff were very helpful. There was a busy bar, though we were too tired after the concert to use it. The breakfast was perfect - plenty of everything and all very tasty. We could see the sea from our window, which was nice. The room was warmandcomfortable,thoughbasic.Theonlydownsidewasthattheroomcouldhavebeendoingwithabitofaspruceup,itwasslightlyshabby,andIcouldntworkouthowtousetheshower.AllnallIwashappywithmystaythereandwouldgothereagain.

We loved the freindliness and warmth of the staff

Review by: Jane , Bedfordshire, United Kingdom

The hotel was set just outside of Dublin City, the bus stop was straight outside the front door and within 10minutes we were within the city centre, value for money was surpassable as the staff really wanted to help you get the most from your stay. Not being used to staying in Hotels , my expectations were met to the highest standards, would definatley go back and would recoomend it to others.

Tara Towers - we wouldn't return

Review by: DeeDee , SHEFFIELD, United Kingdom

Stayed: Aug 2008

Disapponting stay. Hot, stuffy bedroom with shabby furnishings. I asked for an electric fan but not available, staff suggesed open the window and keep curtains closed all day - fine except we then couldn't see the view over Dublin Bay & room was still hot. We were directly above the bar and hotel lights shone into our room all night. In the morning the sun shone through the many holes in the curtain linings. The beds were OK and decent bed linen. Breakfast was a depressing affair, everything was there but used plates/dishes were not cleared from the tables. You helped yourself to pots of tea or coffee, strange tasting fruit juice was from a machine. Hot breakfast was never more than lukewarm. Any positives? Good location for public transport & parking if you have own car with you. Needs some TLC!
