We found the hotel's destination was ideal, the staf were all friendly but booked a double room and got a twin. They had over booked the hotel of double rooms so we couldn't get moved but they took up double sheets. Breakfast was great. The room was only OK and I have stayed in much nicer hotels than this.

The room was a castle view which was newly refurbished and very posh! We paid for the Champagne package which was a nice treat in the room on arrival with a bottle of champers on ice, a lovely bunch of flowers and a fruit bowl and the breakfast was well worth getting up for! Check in was a little slow however the hotel was in a great location and we really enjoyed our stay.

Great location. Dining Room and Bar OK. Rooms are a throwback to the 1950's.

Location is perfect - on Princes St with restaurant/lounge giving great views accross to the castle. food was good, staff friendly and very helpful. Our room - at the rear was a bit tired and compact but spotlessly clean. Overall good value. Front facing rooms probably worth paying supplement for

Thank you for your email we had a fantastic time in Edinburgh. The Mount Royal was a great hotel very central, clean with great views of the castle. The staff were very helpful and kind. Our room although at the back of the hotel was very clean and exactly what we required as we spent a lot of time site seeing and if we needed a view we went to the lounge. We do hope to return to Edinburgh in the future and we would have no hesitation in returning to the Mount Royal.

A good hotel with an unbeatable location. Friendly, helpful staff. Good choice for breakfast and good service from the waiting staff. Well worth paying the £20 premium for a front facing room as the view of Princes steet and castle are superb. The only problem was we forgot to request a non-smoking room so the room smelled of smoke quite a bit. We did ask if we could change rooms, but they were fully booked. All in all a good hotel which I would recommend to anyone.

when we got there we were told we did'nt have booking/reservation. we had to wait half hour in bar before it was sorted. Hotel was good standard, and very central in edinburgh, near shops and castle, good hotel.
