Clarendon Hotel

Clarendon Hotel was a good choice. It was ideally located at the end of Princess Street---15 minute walk from the train station. Rooms were clean and spacious but had no frills. Breakfast each morning consisted of juice, coffee, tea, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and tomatoes with toast. People at the reception were friendly and helpful. It was a good value for the money.

I'm so glad someone put a tip recommending asking for a room at the back. The main street could have been very noisy on a Saturday night - but I didn't hear a thing.

Small room, but clean. Fair breakfast, nice front staff. Great location and value.

hotel wasin a good position, it served its purpose. The room was small but clean and the staff friendly. The breakfast services was very good too.

If you just want somewhere clean and tidy and in a good location its ideal. Dont ask for room 307 as there is a squeekie floor bloard right outside the door! March 2008

The hotel was clean and acceptable, the reception and breakfast were also fine. However, if one was to stay in one of the front rooms when the road is not closed (it is closed right now) there would be a significant amount of noise throughout the night and day. As it is, you still hear all the drunkards yelling and screaming as they venture back to their homes at 1-4am, and I imagine it's probably worse on the weekends. The hotel itself is a hodgepodge of buildings put together so it is somewhat maze like in getting to one's room. Frankly, I would not stay there again; but if you're in a pinch or are only staying a night you could do a lot worse.
