Ellersly House Hotel

The hotel was disappointing in that there were obvious faults and wear and tear in the decor and fixtures and fittings which hotel management must have been aware of, yet have still presented the room as 3 star standard. Faults included; bedroom curtain rail hanging off , bedside light bulb blown, areas of damp/blown plaster on ceiling in bedroom, wall mirror propped on floor, window handle hanging off, tear in quilt cover, duvet thin, worn, filthy and not big enough to cover bed, bed was two singles pushed together with uncomfortable gap remaining, areas of damp/blown plaster in en suite, basin taps loose and strangely offset to sink, carpet worn on stairs. Faults were not drawn to the attention of staff during our stay as we felt the poor standard was negligence or indifference on the part of the management rather than the staff. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Slightly run down entrance way. Booking-in receptionist ws aprupt - had to be asked what time breakfast was etc. Other than that quite positive - bedroom a bit dated but well cleaned. Very good breakfast. Good value for money for Edinburgh.

Apart from a small flood in our first bedroom which was instantly cleared up, the stay in Ellersley house was warm and enjoyable. It made for an excellent getaway in Edinburgh.

Beautiful building with a nice garden, rooms were spotlessly clean, bar and lounge area very comfortable, staff were very pleasant, efficient and helpful. Great value for money, in fact when we next go to Edinburgh (which we do once a year) we had already decided we were going to stay there again
