The location of the hotel is very good, and it has a very relaxed and informal feel. Perfect for those looking for a traditional Scottish Townhouse hotel. (KB 07/08) This hotel is located in the heart of Edinburgh on Calton Hill with panoramic views over the Forth Estuary or Arthurs Seat. On a clear day it is possible to see the mountains on the edge of the Scottish Highlands. It is located in the centre of the city providing easy access to Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood and the shops located on Princes Street. This is a traditional building, built from three Georgian houses. Set back from main street, it is perfectly located on a secluded cobbled side street. Parking is available at the nearby shopping centre car park, or alternatively limited spaces are available outside in the evenings only. The lobby is medium in size and decorated in a traditional style. There is a small seating area and an open log fire. A really cosy welcome! Rooms vary in size, but most are average in size. There are handicap-accessible rooms on the ground floor. Rooms have zip-and-link queen-sized beds and facilities include a fridge, hospitality tray, trouser press and hair dryer. Rooms are traditional in style but are generally of a good standard.

It was a pleasant stay

The location was very central and convenient, and the food was nice. When I checked in the receptionist was cold, but there was still a smile which she forced out. Perhaps she was having a bad day, I wouldn't be too bothered about it. I stayed in a single room, which was clean and tidy. The shower was extremely hot but I wasn't sure if they could do anything about it. At least the bath was nice. I would definitely stay in this hotel again next year when I go to Edinburgh.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful — The included breakfast was great, included anything you could want. The room was beautiful and had plenty of space, not like most European hotels. It was also great that they had a lift. The hotel is just off Princes Street (very central) and a short walk to the train station. The front desk staff was a little brash, but I could tell that they were from other parts of Europe (not Scotland).

A Very Comfortable, Pleasant Stay. Great Location

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful — The location is fantastic - right beside Calton Hill (the acropolis, etc), and a few minutes walk from the Royal Mile. Pretty much everything you could want to do in Edinburgh is within walking distance. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff, especially the breakfast servers, were friendly. I would stay there again.

Parliament House well located

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful — I would recommend the Parliament House when staying in Edinburgh. The location is a convenient 3 min. walk from Waverly Station. Staff is very friendly & helpful. Room was a bit larger than the typical european hotel. Nice bathroom with tub/shower. A full Scottish breakfast was included or the usual continental was an option. Depending on the room location there could be many stairs even though the hotel has a lift. There is some major construction going on in front of the hotel. From 8am until 6pm their is some noise. Very quiet at night. The bed mattress was a bit "lumpy". Overall experience was very good for the price

The hotel was warm and friendly, a bit shabby chic. the only thing I found was that I could hear the drunks some distance away (outside) at 3-4.30am.
