This newly built hotel is situated in the historical centre of Florence just 1 minute away from 'La Pergola' theatre. Piazza del Duomo is just few minutes away and the central station is a 10-15 minutes walk. This is a new bradn 3 star superior property with a touch of classic style. Everything is brand new and very clean. It's a family run business and a good quality hotel for its category. The friendly, refined atmosphere and attention to detail make the hotel Il Duca the ideal location for a pleasant and romantic stay in Florence. D. O 03. 2009. It's a modern building with a small entrance for hotel. All the rooms are big in size, bright, spacious and with high ceilings. They are equipped with air condition, tv sat, mini bar, direct line, air conditioning, safety box, mini bar and hair dryer. Some of the rooms have old painting on the ceiling and this make it a very special experience. They are all classic in style. The lobby is long and spacious. There is only a breakfast room. 5 minute walk to the nearest bus stop, 7 kms to the nearest airport (peretola), Close to the station (santa maria novella).

As of July 2011 Florence is introducing a new city tax to be paid by the guest to the hotel directly prior to their departure. This will be charged up to a maximum of 10 days, per person per day (excluding children under 10 years old). The tax rate ranges from € 1.00 per day for a 1 star hotel to € 5.00 per day for 5 star hotels.

Great location

Il Duca is a small family driven hotel, very close (5 min walk) from the main attractions of Florence, conveniently located away from the traffic. Our double room was spacious and extremely clean. The staff was very friendly, and although their English is not very good, we got along very well. The breakfast is quite limited though, but sufficient to get a good start of the day. Compared to other very costly hotels in the same area, this hotel was perfect for our short vacation in Florence, and I highly recommend it :-)

Lovely family-run hotel.

My friend and I were delightfully surprised at how reasonably priced this nice hotel was. It came with all the amenities we needed (incl. a hair dryer), a satisfactory breakfast, and was well situated on a quiet street within the heart of Florence, especially near the Academia (where the statue of David is located). The receptionist, who runs the hotel with her family, also gave us a wonderful Italian restaurant recommendation that was as popular with the locals for its good food as it was with us. We would definitely stay at Il Duca again.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful — Worst experience of the whole trip. Spent 14 days in Italy, and 4 sleepless nights in Florence at this hotel. Worst service we experienced on the whole trip. There are tenants living in this hotel who share common walls with the guest. They had complete disregard for your privacy. The hotel is family run and they honestly could care less if you were there. Very unfriendly. The daughter takes care of the desk, once she wakes up around 10am, then was on Facebook and wouldn't acknowledge you unless you interrupted her. If she wasn't on the computer for person use, her two kids were fighting over it. Very unprofessional. The location was great, but it's hard to justify location when your kept awake all night by the neighbors fighting. We were denied a new room and they refused to intervene. Love Florence though!
