This brand new hotel is located in the historical centre of the city, very close to the main Train Station of Santa Maria Novella and close to the major city museums. The atmosphere is very welcoming and friendly. This is one of the best one-star new hotels in Florence. Excellent value for money! DO 05. 2009. The building is traditional and in keeping with its surroundings. All rooms are very comfortable, spacious and bright. All of them have modern facilities. The hotel has a breakfast room only. The lobby is medium in size though quite narrow in appearance. 8 kms to the nearest airport (peretola), Close to the station (s. m. novella).

As of July 2011 Florence is introducing a new city tax to be paid by the guest to the hotel directly prior to their departure. This will be charged up to a maximum of 10 days, per person per day (excluding children under 10 years old). The tax rate ranges from € 1.00 per day for a 1 star hotel to € 5.00 per day for 5 star hotels.

We enjoyed the Albergo Montreal in Florence.

The hotel has been renovated, but it does not have a lift. You must also climb a few stairs before you enter the lobby. It was fine for us, but others may have a problem with the stairs. The room was very clean and the bathroom has brand new fixtures and was very adequate. We thought it was well worth the money and it was close to the train station which worked out well for us. The breakfast in the morning was very good and was what we had thought it would be---enough to eat and drink!

Acceptable lodging, but not a destination hotel.
