This is a very good standard hotel, in an excellent location. D. O 02. 2009 The hotel is located in the historic centre of Florence on an old and narrow street within minutes walk of the railway station, market and all the main central attractions. This is a traditional Italian palazzo which blends in well with the surrounding buildings. The reception area is simple but adequate. There is a lounge at one end of the lobby and a clean and tidy breakfast room at the other. The guest rooms have all been refurnished recently. As the hotel is part of an ancient building, the rooms are all slightly different in size and shape. They are modern and simple, but furnished in a good style.

As of July 2011 Florence is introducing a new city tax to be paid by the guest to the hotel directly prior to their departure. This will be charged up to a maximum of 10 days, per person per day (excluding children under 10 years old). The tax rate ranges from € 1.00 per day for a 1 star hotel to € 5.00 per day for 5 star hotels.

Convenient hotel location

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful — San Giorgio Hotel is very close to S.M.Novella Train Station in Florence, a definite plus when only staying for one night. We booked tour same day we arrived for the following day to Siena & San Gimignano. The office was located not even a block away from the hotel. The tour group met on the corner of the Piazza, 1/2 block away from the hotel. We were on 4th floor and like other reviews mentioned, it had stairs. A/C broke in the middle of the night and so had to open up the windows in the room and bathroom. Fortunately it was cool outside so the room cooled down quickly. Breakfast was decent, WIFI internet worked well and hotel has a great common room. Next time might stay across the Ponte Vecchio bridge. There were a lot of people out at night and quite a few restaurants in the area.
