Formerly the Hotel Chantilly, this hotel underwent a complete transformation in 2003 and has been entirely refurbished in a colonial style, renamed the Kipling to suit its new 'British Raj' theme.

Situated in a quiet street just off the rue de Lausanne, in the centre of Geneva, the Kipling is perfectly located to allow guests easy access to all the attractions of the city including the lake, the old town, the international institutions, and the main railway station (Gare de Cornavin).

An unobtrusive building from the outside, the Kipling's new design will only strike you once you enter the lobby. The reception desk is styled like a huge leather trunk, and slatted wooden blinds and tropical flowers add to the effect of transporting you to the Raj days of India.

The attention to detail throughout is outstanding, the quality of furnishings and fittings extremely high, and the general effect is of a very comfortable, stylish, yet unfussy hotel. Rooms are not overly large, yet furnished with such elegance in creams, dark woods and warm, earthy tones that you'll find it hard to believe this is a three star hotel. All rooms are equipped with a minibar (cleverly disguised as a piece of luggage), saftey deposit box, television, telephone with modem, airconditioning, radio, and work desk. Bathrooms are equally appreciated by the design-conscious, with free standing basins and ethnic-style carved mirrors complementing the effect achieved elsewhere in the hotel.

The Kipling has a comfortable lounge with a bar, a bright and airy breakfast room, and offers a good range of services including parking, 24 hour reception, laundry, currency exchange, business services and babysitting.

Overall the Kipling is a small and friendly hotel, boasting great service and a level of comfort and ultra-modern elegance you'd be hard pushed to match in other hotels in the city.

I have stayed in many hotels in Geneva, Kipling Manotel has to be the best. The first thing i observed was the friendliness of the staff and their calmness. I was especially impressed with how organised and clean the room was. I was concerned when some reviews mentioned the hotel located in a red light district, but i have to say that this does not have any bearing whatsoever on the excellence of the hotel. Its location is more of an advantage in many ways. I was not pleased about the tax i had to pay when i was leaving (I wonder what will happen if i had said i had no money), but i will surely stay there next time i am in Geneva and will recommend it to any visitor too!

We had a really lovely stay here, great accommodation in freshly decorated sparkling clean rooms. Lovely comfy beds. Very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast in smart dining area. Hotel Kipling is very well located, a couple of minutes walk from main train station and close to lots of restaurants (very cool bar at top of road) and the lake. I would definitely go back to this hotel.

Hotel's decor was lovely, not the usual run-of-the-mill hotel style. Staff very friendly and helpful. Our room was up-graded (no charge). I think this was because they knew it was my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary. The room was large with a seating area and kitchenette which was really useful. Was situated within easy walking distance to the train station. Would definately stay there again.
