Alexander Thomson Hotel

Review by: John & Sue , Stockport, United Kingdom

Stayed: Jun 2013

We booked the Alexander at short notice as being fairly close to The Royal Southern Hospital where our daughter had just had an emergency Caesarean section.

The double room was spacious, clean and comfortable, the staff were polite and helpful and the buffet breakfast good.
A bonus was the large bar area with very reasonably priced drinks and more like a gentlemans club with comfortable leather chairs and sofas.

We felt this hotel was good value in a central location and would certainly stay there again.

As a family and in our opinion, we had a very good weekend break at the Glasgow Marriott. The room was beautiful, clean and well equipped. The view was good with lots to see and despite being next to the M8, we never heard a sound from the traffic.

The staff were excellent - very courteous and attentive. We have two children who were made very welcome.

The pool was great for the children and helped to burn up energy once the evening came!

We would definitely return to stay again! Every guest will have their own set of expectations from a hotel, but for us, the Glasgow Marriott met and exceeded all that we were hoping for during our short stay in Glasgow.

Erskine Bridge Hotel

Erskine Bridge Hotel
My sister and I love staying at the Erskine Bridge Hotel

Review by: Margaret & Eliza , Dumbarton, United Kingdom

Stayed: Dec 2012

We have stayed overnight twice when we were attending the Dominic Kirwan Christmas dance. We only stay 20 minutes away in Dumbarton so the hotel is easily accessible to us. We love indulging ourselves ,quite economically, whenever we can. Both times we were on the refurbished 4th floor with panoramic views from the huge windows. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the food is good and the staff are always friendly and obliging. We would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to others.

Ramada Glasgow Airport

Night at Ramada

Review by: Dale , Helensburgh, United Kingdom

Stayed: Oct 2012

It was disapointing that a hotel, trading on being close to the airport fails to provide its own transfer service, having to pay an additional fee to a third party company is not acceptable. Next time I will use one of the alternatives, which are comparable price!

Excellant hotel to stay, staff very friendly, did not have dinner every night when we did the food was very good, with a good menu choice and very good service, the breakfast food was very good and plentiful. Only one fault, our room was at the furthest point from anywhere i.e. reception, dinning, bars.

The staff we're friendly, everything was clean (bedding, Towels etc) unfortunatly the decoration was not good. The tiles in the bathroom had holes in them and gaps where they had not been fitted properly, just little things made it look unloved. then there was the shower it was that bad it may as well not been there. the trickle of water went hot and cold, to be honest more cold. I'm glad i was only there for 2 nights.

A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. We had a spacious room at the back of the hotel with a fine view of the river Clyde. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant which was good but perhaps a little over-priced. The breakfast the next morning was excellent. I would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone interested in visiting this part of Scotland and to book it on the internet to get the best value for money. Yes, it did live up to expectations.

Best Western Glasgow City Hotel

Best Western Glasgow City Hotel
Average - but don't take room 10!

Review by: Davey P , Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Stayed: Jan 2012

The hotel was generally fine, however we had been "upgraded" to a larger room. I'm guessing all the other rooms were full!
Room seemed great, had a lcd tv, even a PS2 although no games (I'm sure reception probably had some).

However!! Room 10 must back on to some sort of washing room, and until about 10pm all you heard on the wall was a constant banging. It did stop, but then again, early in the morning... bang bang. Nightmare!!

Breakfast was ok, although there was not much cereal to choose from, and the breakfast room was quite cosy!

To sum up, fairly average, not bad from the price, and I would stay there again if I was in a quieter room.

The hotel was in a great position right next to the Merchant City area. Up market rather than centre of town, but all the shopping areas were within 5 mins walk. The hotel breakfast was really nice, great choice of hot /cold buffet style food and the staff were very friendly. The hotel car park was full on our first day, as it only holds about 40 cars and it is not secure by any means, but at 6 quid for 24hrs, its a good price. The NCP carpark at the end of the road costs 10.50 but it is totally secure. We ate at the SoHo bar on Miller Street and it was brilliant. Great food, good price and lovely surroundings. We also ate at Sizzlers Steakhouse inside the Merchants City Square and agin that was a great meal. Downside to the hotel, our bed was RUBBISH. Couldnt sleep!!!!

Malmaison Hotel Glasgow

Malmaison Hotel Glasgow
Disappointed with hotel

Review by: Mojo , Belfast, United Kingdom

Stayed: Nov 2011

The offer from Skoosh was by far the best available on line better than the Malmaison's own offers.
Having stayed in other Malmaison hotels I was looking forward to my stay in this one. However I was disappointed. I found the hotel dark, cramped and lacked atmosphere or any type of buzz that you would expect from a hotel of this standard and particularly on a Saturday night. The bar and bistro felt like an out of date basement bar rather than a trendy one. Breakfast was buffet style with a cooked option brought to your table both of which were just about average. The room was clean and nicely furnished with good amenities the staff were all very pleasant and helpful however this would not be enough to tempt me back to stay in the Malmaison Glasgow,

Most certainly recommend it to others! What can I say, from before arriving (getting directions) to exit when we got a discount voucher for the car park, the service we received far surpassed our expectations. The price was terrific, breakfast delicisious but most impressive was the service from staff. Receiptionists were soooo... friendly and even when we phoned for ice we were offered glasses for our drinks!!! Only one piece of advice we would offer - pre book a table if you would like to have dinner at the hotel. Unfotunately we had to go else where as all the talbes were booked. However, just a short stroll to Sauchiehall Street where there are pleanty of places to eat. One final comment - the car park was a secure 24 hour entry/exit, with voucher only £3.80 for our overnight stay. Fantasitc stay will certainly be back. Thanks to all.
