The hotel was clean, but my room was very small. The staff was nice and friendly. The breakfast buffet was very good. The cleaning staff was a bit rude and the amenities were non-existent (package of shampoo/conditioner and small bar of soap)

This is an aged hotel with plastic illuminated bottles bizarrely aranged outside for decoration! It's a good 15min walk from the centre walking past the drunks who hang outside of the local Walmart store! Appearance aside the staff were excellent and friendly and the room standard was just acceptable of a 3*.

Hotel Berlin was the cheapest Hotel in Hamburg we could find - and so were a little scepticle prior to arrival. However the Hotel surpassed all our expectations and even more you got Hot buffet breakfast included in the price -eaten daily on the outside garden terrace - bliss. We had a hire car that we could park in the underground garage safely - we arrived at the hotel at 9am and the friendly staff arranged a room immediately even though booking in time was 3pm. The hotel is clean and presented to a good standard. It is near to subway connections (Berliner Tor) that take you anywhere in Hamburg. The rooms were a little small - especially the bathroom but overall thumbs up!!

When you first see this hotel from the outside you think... " oops! got this one wrong".. However step into the foyer and its a whole different experience. Very well laid out, large comftable sofa's. Very modern and very very welcoming. The staff are discret, but very helpfull and friendly. We had what is called an 'internet room'... no not one with a pc.. but booked via internet. It was small, but comftable, part of me says, " we only need the room for sleeping, this is Hamburg, were going to be out alot".. while the other part of me was saying " wish i'd spent a few £ more an got a suite" they look fantastic.! A well stocked mini bar,, (on the honesty policy) cetainly help ease the pain from the size of the room. The bar and resturant are resonably priced, but the chef did his best to make you feel you were in a 5* hotel. A relaxed and stress free atmosphere are all around, and certaily help your stay.Breakfast was a very laid back affair, large continetal type or a limited hot food.. scrambled eggs etc. On the down side,,,, no tea or coffee in the room ,, for those addicts that need a cup first thing in the morning..i was gasping by the time we got down for breakfast!!. only one english channel on the tv... and no radio.!! lifes hard huh?.. I would recommend this one to anyone,, but with one note... if you get cheap flights like we did.. spend the extra on a bigger room,, and really relax..... all in all a good 9/10. real value for money.

The hotel is very clean, the staff were very friendly and our stay went without a hitch. However, the building is not impressive from the outside and wasn't as luxurious as we had been led to believe. But the attentive staff made the stay a pleasure! The hotel is five minutes from the tube line, which makes access to any part of Hamburg easy. If you are looking for a good hotel with minimal facilities this is ideal.... and its very quiet!

From the outside this hotel doesn't look very special however once you enter the reception area you imediately realise why it is so popular. Small private seating areas surround the tastefully decorated bar, the rooms are modern and spacious and the breakfast choice is extensive. the hotel is a simple 10 min walk from the centre of hamburg.
