I can highly recommend the Ambassador hotel. The rooms are ok, but it's the extremely kind and helpfull staff that really take the price. The location in the Sultanahmet district is excellent, close to the sights and the Grand bazar. Very important is also the quietness of the hotel. As I said before, I have stayed 7 times at the Ambassador, and I'm pretty choosy, so I can really recommend this hotel.

- great central location - near Blue mosque and Aya Sofia - 1 min from tram station - very good value for money - good breakfast with a variety of turkish cuisine in addition to continental breakfast
one only negative - quite cold in the rooms - but we stayed in January

Although the taxi driver had trouble finding it initially, from a location perspective it was absolutely perfect. It was right in the centre of the Sultan Ahmet quarter giving good access to everything. The hotel was small and peronal and the staff were very friendly and accommadating. The hotel was open all night providing a great deal of freedom. The building was lovely, the room itself was fine, as opposed to exceptional but the most noteworthy feature was the roof terrace which gave the most breathtaking view accross the city. It was almost possible to touch the Blue Mosque from it! For this reason and the location generally I would definately recommend this hotel.

We were very happy with the hotel. The rooms could use more furniture as there weren't enough places to put our clothing for the week. The beds and pillows were excellent, as was the water pressure in the shower.
The hotel manager was extremely helpful in booking a day trip for my husband and son to Ephesus. He sent people to call and get tickets and such while he sat and drank tea with us in the lobby. Later he took us to his friend's leather shop around the corner where we were able to get a bespoke leather jacket made in one day for a very reasonable price.
Watch the charges at check-out. Even though we were told that all transfers were included in the price for Ephesus, we found a 40Euro charge on our bill when we went to check out. We complained, the manager was called and we were told we didn't have to pay it. This went far in preserving our good feelings about the Ambassador hotel!
