From Calgary Airport: Take the only exit road leaving Calgary Airport. Continue following this road, and it will become Barlow Trail. Take Barlow Trail south to 16th Avenue. Go west (right) onto 16th Avenue. 16th Avenue becomes TransCanada Highway 1, which leads straight through to Banff National Park (a 45-60 minute drive). Upon arriving at the Banff National Park gates visitors will be required to pay a fee. Entry and service fees are charged at most national parks and national historic sites, where revenue is vital in supporting visitor services and facilities. After paying the fee continue to follow the signs for the hamlet of Lake Louise, continuing on the TransCanada Highway. Forty minutes past the Town of Banff take a turn-off to the right, marked for Lake Louise. Turn left at the top of that road, proceed through 2 stop signs and continue straight along this road, uphill (4 km, 2. 4 miles). This will lead directly to the front doors of the hotel. The trip will take about 2. 5 hours from Calgary, weather permitting. Calgary is 183 km from Lake Louise.
The Hotel is currently under ongoing renovation of the Lobby and Lakeview Lounge, which will be completed by early June of 2013.

Chateau Lake Louise is the only hotel which stands on the shore of Lake Louise, providing a magnificent backdrop to the hotel.
The hotel is well equipped with a variety of restaurants and shops, although the indoor pool is quite small.
Lakeview rooms attract a premium over the normal room rate which is expensive compared to other hotels, but worth it for that special occasion.
Chateau Lake Louise is also some 4 kilometres from the small village, which has limited shops and a couple of restaurants, and some 500 feet higher-not really walkable.
The staff were extremely courteous and the service very good. Car parking at $32 per night is steep when added to the cost of staying at the hotel.
I would recommend the hotel but only for a short stay in the Summer as there is little to do in the village. There are some really good walks in the area for those with the correct equipment. It certainly met our expectations.

30 dollars a night for parking was excessive.

Prices in coffee shop were horrendous and inconsistent. 4 dollars one day for a glass of milk, $ 2.19 for the same thing the next day.

Well worth the extra cost. Service was outstanding, meals a bit expensive. Note, when I visited at the end of May the lake was still frozen-it is much more attractive when thawed.
