This hotel was, without doubt, one of the grand hotels of Lima and enjoys an excellent position in the very centre of historical downtown Lima. However, it has been left for a long time without major refurbishments and, therefore, it is now in need of a major renovation to bring it back up to the standard it once held. It has excellent examples of antique furnishings, such as the lift which serves the hotel, but it needs to be worked on throughout the hotel. Nevertheless, for budget traveller this is definitely a very good choice.
The hotel is conveniently located in the historical centre of Lima, in the downtown in Plaza San Martín, one of the most famous squares in Lima. This is where Peru's independence was proclaimed.
The hotel occupies a traditional building dating back to the early 1920s.
The lobby is small and traditional in décor, with traditional antique seating and furnishings. It is dark, with low ceilings and a marble reception area.
The vast majority of the rooms are medium in size, whilst the suites are large. All are in fair condition, with one floor only being in good condition. All the bathrooms are also in fair condition. There are many examples of antique wood furnishings, and most rooms have carpeted floors and dark colour schemes.
