This is 'London's first country house hotel' opened in June 1987 where today's guests still enjoy the perfect tranquillity and classic elegance of a past era. (VM 01/09)
How to get there: From the A3, take the Tibbets Corner roundabout exit onto the A219 going south towards Wimbledon. Just past an old fountain on the right, turn right onto Cannizaro Road and take the second turning on the right onto Westside Common. Cannizaro House is 50 yards on the left. Proudly situated on the edge of Wimbledon Common and the beautiful landscaped gardens of Cannizaro Park gives this hotel the most tranquil setting. Wimbledon Village is just a few minutes walk away with its fine selection of elegant boutiques, shops, restaurants and trendy bars. Wimbledon underground and train station is a 20 minute walk away or you can take advantage of the complimentary shuttle service provided by the hotel. (Monday , Friday mornings) It's a stunning Georgian style building. The mansion took its name from an earlier resident, the Sicilian Duke of Cannizaro and his Scottish wife. They lived here from 1817 until 1841, when they died within a few months of one another. The small lobby leads to the drawing room featuring a grand staircase to the right and a bar area to the left. The hotel boasts forty six elegant bedrooms including a selection of suites , some with four poster beds. All of the rooms are en-suite, individually furnished and boast a view of either Cannizaro Park or Wimbledon Common. |
