The building was built in 1864 in a Victorian style and was completely renovated in the year 2000. The hotel is made up of a main building and an annexe block, each with 6 floors and 239 rooms, of which 206 are doubles and 33 are apartments. The sophisticated foyer has a 24-hour reception, lifts, a safe, a currency exchange desk and a cloakroom. Additional amenities include a café, a cosy bar and an air-conditioned à la carte restaurant with separate non-smoking area. Conference rooms are available for business and WLAN Interne access and room and laundry service also feature.
This fashionable, traditional hotel is located at the heart of London and is well served by public transport from Charing Cross tube station. It is just a short distance to Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden. Restaurants and bars fill the surrounding area, and it is just a few metres to shops, bar and nightclubs. A breakfast buffet is available every morning. At lunchtime and in the evenings dishes may be ordered from a set menu or from the à la carte selection. Special dietary requirements are catered for. By rail, from any Central London mainline rail station, take the underground to Charing Cross station. The hotel can be reached simply by exiting the station through the subway, bringing you out within a few yards of the reception hall. By air, from any of the London airports, take any train or underground train into central London and get to Charing Cross Station by use of the underground Bakerloo or Northern lines. By road, follow signs to central London, and then towards Trafalgar square. Once passed through Trafalgar Square with the National Portrait Gallery at left, continue out from the Square and into Duncan Street. At the traffic lights ahead and to the right is the entrance to Charing Cross Station and the Thistle Charing Cross above. Drive into the Station access road in order to check in and drop luggage. NB: Parking is not permitted in that area. |
