County Hotel London Reviews

I would not recomend this hotel to anyone, from our booking being lost, to the 11/07 dated rodent trap clearly visable in the main reception area , dirty towels in the bathroom and damp in the hallways and the flooding in the dinning area and several other points , including poor staff, expecialy the head porter, who on being informed about the rodent trap shouted (in his usual style ' no worries mate' and carried on ignoring everyone), the entire weekend in London was spoilt.
Not value for money, beds were comfortable, breakfast ok.
Wouldnt expect these very poor standards anywhere, foregn visitors must have had second thoughts about comming back to our country, it made me embaressed to be British, the hotel realy managed to take the great out of great britain.

It was what one would expect for the money. The area is noisy.

Stay here if you've seen National Lampoon's European Vacation more than once. You don't get the Cockney bloke ("Oh you're the Yanks") at the front desk. You actually some nice people as the front desk staff and porter. Key things to remember -- it's old, but in decent shape Walls are drabbly painted but clean. TV is adequate. Rooms are small, but clean -- think dorm rooms in an old dorm. Breakfast is OK. It is really close to Euston Station and the neighborhood is really nice with lots of small restaurants. Shared bath does lead to some interesting things. Again, think dorm room. No one popping in while you're taking the bubble bath, nor leg locks in bed -- but.... I did turn the corner to see a tall blonde wrapped in a towel going back to her room. Look, it's a hundred bucks in London!

County Hotel is a great location for the tube, it's in walking distance to both the Euston (closest, just two blocks away) and King's Cross stops (convenient to Gatwick), probably others too. The place itself was old, the room was, shall we say, furnished in vintage furnishings and linens (and mattresses and box springs). My quote was "I'm afraid to touch the carpet with my feet" to which my fiance replied "I'm afraid to touch this place with anything." Not to say it was dirty, just that it had been around the block a million times. The toilet and shower/baths were shared but we never had to wait to use them when we were there summer midweek. One complaint: if you book through Skoosh, you do not get the English breakfast, you get the continental breakfast, i.e., cereals, bread, bad coffee, tea, juices. None of the hot food.
