Mediocre Room and Service - AWFUL Location

I would not recommend this hotel. I spend about one-third of all of my nights in a hotel for work but on this occasion was doing so for pleasure. The hotel's entrance was hard to find, and the location is far from any tube stop (15 minute walk or so). The woman at the check-in desk was unfriendly and kept trying to give me a room with two single beds (despite the fact that I ordered a queen/king bed room). She eventually gave me a room on the first floor directly across from the elevator -- an incredible slap in the face. The elevator was broken, and the staff told me I must not understand how to use it when I reported the problem. It was likely the worst check-in process I have ever had at an otherwise decent hotel. Lack of basic UK TV channels was, however, an issue.

Convenient business hotel

While the Crowne Plaza is near the City it is also very close to walk to Central London or to jump on a number of different Tube lines. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean and typical of a business class hotel. The gym was under re-furbishment so worked out in the temp work-out room which was just ok. Got a great deal on Skoosh which made it very affordable. One comment to the hotel is to make wireless internet access available in every room in the hotel and to offer it free to those staying at the hotel. Paying GBP10 for 24 hours seems excessive. Lots of great restaurants if you travel north on Farringdon Road to Clerkenwell. Try the Eagle on Farringdon Rd or anything on St. John or around Smithfield Market. Also toured St Paul's for the first time and it wasamazing.

crowne plaza good

The CP is a great place to stay if you want a modern hotel thats not far from center of london. The rooms and bathroom are very clean. We booked it because it was opposite balckfriars tube station....but this is closed till 2011. So that means a bit of a walk. The staff are fine, most of them were very helpful. We wanted 2 beds, but only the deluxe rooms have 2 beds, so we could not upgrade to a club room, which was dissappointing. Breakfast was included in our rate and we were able to have it in our room for only Â£3 extra. We would stay again though when the station opens

There is reasonable value at Crown Plaza - The City

My expectations were met for all things except two. They told me that they could not guarantee early check-in. When I arrived, they did a wonderful job in allowing me to check-in. The breakfast is not up to the standard required for a hotel of this quality. The cleaning personnel would not replace the bath matt with mold. I guess it is ok to have black mold on a bath mat. Other than the minor areas of food and cleanliness. This hotel is in a great location. The staff are very professional.
