Reviews of Queen Mary Long Beach

Customer Rating:

This hotel is a true piece of history- absolutely fascinating. If you are expecting a totally modern hotel, this is not for you. The Queen Mary is rustically charming. The self guided tours, historical information and unique shops around the ship add to the enjoyment of this lovely hotel.

We recently stayed at the Hotel on the Queen Mary and found it to be slightly below an acceptable standard. The main reason for this was the fact that not many improvements to the rooms have been made since it was an active ocean going liner. The tub and toilet were definitely original which was evidenced by the many chips and stains in the porcelain giving it an 'unclean' feeling. The thermostat system was also original. And didn't work to our satisfaction. The shipboard amenities however were nice. Cafes, restaurants, lounges, shops, etc.. Next time we will stay at a local hotel in Long Beach. We will get a much more modern and clean hotel for the price we paid. But it was a unique experience that was not altogether bad.

Inexpensive, but extremely loud, parties until 3:00 a.m. up and down the hallways.

ok to stay there 1 time just for the experience. though rooms are bigger than present day ships, they're not as sound -proofed, not as big as a standard hotel, and much of furniture in need of replacement. The ship is OLD. had great meal, view, and service at promenade cafe. ask for side of ship NOT viewing city (on opposite side of the entrance) which ACTUALLY gives you a better view of the city due to how ship is positioned in relation to the shoreline.

If I didn't find a great rate on skoosh.com, I would've stayed at any of the 4-star hotels off Ocean Blvd. in Long Beach. You do need to keep reminding yourself that the Queen Mary carries alot of history it's the only way you can try to overlook the dingy carpets, walls, and fixtures. Other than the harbor view, there's nothing to look forward to on the upper decks. The staterooms are very small and not worth the $149 weekend rate the QM was charging. There's a $20 min in the gift shops, so forget the souvenier unless you carry cash. The deli had more flies than customers, you're better off dining in the restaurant below it cost the same. The entree's at the Sunday Brunch were on point, but lacks the $40 per person variety. Don't add parking at check-out, validate parking at the buffet, now it's free!
