I would recommend staying at this hotel if you have a flair for historic places. The ocean liner has been well maintained, with some updates. Now for the bad news. All the rooms were booked that weekend for a singles party, which happened to be going on above my room. My room was at the very back end of the ship, you board at the front., and I had just sprained my ankle before the trip. I reserved a Queen/King room and got a Double bed with a uncomfortable rollaway bed. They offered to change the room the next day, but I was gone all day attending my son's wedding and reception. After returning home, I noticed the hotel charged my account $1,010.22. I had to call several times to find it was a posting error and my account was credited a week later.

I would recommend it for the experience of an unusual lodging compared to a hotel/motel, and great food in the restaurants. The staff at the Churchill restaurant were great, and the view of Long Beach beautiful.
We chose the Queen Mary mostly because of it's famous ghost stories, but were disappointed because there were no ghost tours the day we were there.
All in all a great experience.

The ship is rich with history and the tour of the ship is really nice. The promanade deck is lovely for a stroll and the view is wonderful from the decks. The rooms are okay nothing fancy, but a decent size, however the walls are paper thin and you clearly hear all that goes on in the adjoining room. We had really noisy neighbors and asked to be moved at 11 p.m. They were really accomadating since they were not full. Our next room was really quite. I don't know how much it cost to tour the boat if your not a guest, but you could easily tour the boat before sundown, watch the sunset from the promande deck enjoying a bottle of wine have dinner at Winston's (dress nice) and stay somewhere else. Or stay there if your drinking a lot . One night is plenty.

I have always wanted to stay on board The Hotel Queen Mary and I am not sorry that I did. It is full of nostagia! The room was quite spacious with newer carpet. The bathroom has the original bathtub which was meant for sitting in not standing in it for showering. In other words it is concave and would probably be best if management installed a grab bar as I felt off balance sometimes. The wall board used for the entire bathroom surround definitely needs replacing. Why the management has not done so is beyond me. The bathroom floor looked like fairly new tile! Went to the Promendae deck at the bow of the ship for evening coktails and the space is very charming but the Hip Hop music playing was not. I asked the staff to change it and they did. Management would best be served if they hadperiodmusicplayingaswellashadthestaffinperiodcostumes.
