Great place to stay.

Review by: michoo , Brussels, Belgium

Stayed: May 2013

Stayed 3 nights.
Excellent location, between Puerta del Sol and the Opera house. Very nice rooms, recently renovated, with balcony, colour tv (remote control issued at the reception, limited number of english speaking channels), wifi, safe and mini-bar. Rooms very well kept.
Well insulated from the outside (no street noise), little less from the inside (noisy neigbours and early leavers can be heard). Breakfast buffet is plain but acceptable. Staff friendly and helpful. Only negative comment: no welcome note in the room providing handy information about available facilities.
Good value for money.

Hotel Convencion

Hotel Convencion
Excellent location for Palacio de Deportes

Review by: Lorna , Lanarkshire, United Kingdom

Stayed: Apr 2013

1 out of people found the following review helpful —

Booked this hotel for 3 nights from 19th to 21st of April as it was ideally located next to Palacio de Deportes where we were seeing a band. The hotel is so easy to get to, you just get the large yellow airport transfer bus from the airport and it's the very first stop in the o'donnell area, the bus will stop right at the stop, this cost 5 euro each. The hotel is very impressive on entering, some reviews said it was old fashioned and needed updating, to be honest I thought it was lovely and a little retro, we had clean towels every day and room tidied. Great places to eat and drink all around, we ate out every day. Close to Retiro park , lovely park and a must visit, metros everywhere to connect to other parts of Madrid, excellent hotel for money

Victoria 4 Hotel

Victoria 4 Hotel
Victoria4 Great Place!

Review by: JK , London Borough Sutton, United Kingdom

Stayed: Nov 2012

I would definitely recommend Victoria 4.
This is a great place to stay for a short break in Madrid as it is so central for all the museos, most of them within walking distance.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was kept very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. There is very little English speaking television but we did not find that a particular problem.
There is an excellent restaurant adjoining serving a very reasonably priced "menu de dia" with good home Spanish cooking.

Sunotel Amaral

Sunotel Amaral
Sunotel Amaral has clean rooms.

Review by: Tobbe , Soderkoping, Sweden

Stayed: Oct 2012

I would recommend it to others. I was impressed by the clean rooms and the service of free safetybox. I was a little bit disappointed by the diningroom, it was way to small for 160 guests, it was loudy and caotic in the mornings.
I think it was very good value for the money and my expectations were more than met. It is a perfect hotel for younger people.

Gran Duque

Gran Duque
the Grand Duke is modest

Review by: Uni-traveller , by Dingwall, United Kingdom

Stayed: Oct 2012

I just had a one-night stay in this Hostal, but it was a very quiet one. Situated a few yards away from the Opera Square, I thought that was a big plus.

The single room was very small but immaculate, as was the en-suite bathroom. The pictures on the wall certainly gave it a more homely feel to it. A problem with the light was attended to on the spot, which i appreciated.

Good value for money and well situated - definitely worth considering again.

Aptosuite Jardines De Sabatini

Aptosuite Jardines De Sabatini
Aptosuite Jardines de Sabatini is a fantastic place to stay in Madrid.

Review by: David, Mel, Jon and , Stockport, United Kingdom

Stayed: Oct 2012

It's within walking distance of many attractions and great tapas bars, close to Metro stops for galleries and museums, and there are parks and shops nearby. The 4th floor suite we had overlooked the Royal Palace which was impressive, as was the roof terrace where the views over the city especially at sunset are breathtaking. The hotel decor is ultra contemporary, which we found refreshing after indulging in so much of Madrid's classical culture and architecture. Rooms were clean, comfortable and serviced regularly. Staff were friendly and always helpful, despite our lamentable lack of Spanish. Breakfast was always more than adequate, with plenty of choice, especially good strong coffee, fresh fruit salad and warm crusty breads. We all felt it was good value for money having booked a '3 for 2 nights' offer. We would thoroughly recommend staying here for a city break to Madrid.

A smart, clean hotel

Review by: Jeremy , Stockton-on-Tees, United Kingdom

Stayed: Sep 2012

Recently refurbished, excellent room with friendly, helpful staff. This hotel isn't in central Madrid, but it is right next door to a metro station and, if you don't mind a bit of walking, it isn't far from the Retiro park which gives a very pleasant route into the city centre.
