The Marco Island Hilton is an average hotel sold as a "resort". The "Jr. Suites" are simply basic hotel rooms with a pullout sofabed and an extra sink. They nickel and dime you for everything...parking, beach chairs, umbrellas, internet access, you name it. Drink prices are high and staffing low. We were there at the height of spring break, the hotel was fully booked, but staffing lacked.
One evening the fire alarms went off five times throughout the night, leaving all guests with little or no sleep. Most were left outside for hours in their pajamas even though they knew it was a malfunctioned sprinkler. The following morning a letter was left under our door apologizing for the problem. The letter was full of gramatical errors and typos, embarrassing. It would have been appropriate for the hotel manager to great people in the lobby the following morning to personally apologize and offer a simple free cup of coffee. A definite missed opportunity to save face. Many customers spoke about changing hotels only to find out the other hotels on the island were booked.
On the other side, the location is great. Beautiful ocean views, comfortable beds, clean throughout. The pool is too small and crowded, with people fighting for chairs with literally 3 inches between them. The front desk personnel was curtious and accomodating when asking for late checkout.
I suspect the hotel will soon go under renovation. They should visit their competition a few doors down prior to making any plans. The Marriott truly is a resort with a spa, villas and everything a resort should be.

Very clean; spacious rooms; great access to beach; every single hotel employee that we dealt with was friendly and helpful. Our first room had a view of the old Radisson hotel that's being torn down (early March '07). Once the loud demolition started Monday a.m., we asked to be moved and thankfully the next day we were able to be placed on the other side of the Hilton. If we HAD NOT been moved, we would have been extremely disappointed. Our expectations were certainly met.

The hotel is immaculate, very attractively decorated in an upscale look with plants, flowers, paintings, marble floors. Lots of natural light in the lobby and public areas. It has an open feel. The rooms are very large with all amenities. The maid staff keeps everything very clean. All rooms have balconies. The linens on the beds and in the bath are high quality. The staff is very friendly, helpful and personal. Sitting on the beach on Marco Island it is a very picturesque setting. Chairs, umbrellas, cabanas are available for at extra cost and water sports too. The Paradise restaurant is recommended for the views and ambience. The open porch area is lovely for breakfast and at sunset. I would definitely stay there again. I think it is the best hotel on the island.
