Depends on their taste.
Unfortnately, historic translated to old with not many amenities.
Hotel was significantly overpriced- probably (hopefully) because of the New York marathon.

Expectations were we needed a room to sleep, so I guess expectations were met.

Actually bed was very comfortable. Staff was friendly (for New York)

On our first night we asked to change rooms. The room was loud with the outside air conditions unit.
The initial room was small and in need of refurbishment.

The second room was a slight improvement, however, there was a constant noise from outside units.

If you want a good night's sleep, do not stay at this hotel!!!

I have stayed here multiple times, but this time was great. I received a corner room that was extra large with a nice view of the city. Staff was helpful and courteous. The only complaint I have is that room service closes at 10:30 on Sunday nights. If you have a flight from the east you can forget getting any food or drinks when you get to the hotel.

All in all I am staying there again this week. Thanks Algonquin.

Our expectations for this hotel were exceeded at every turn. Staying at the Algonquin enhanced our trip to New York City and we will certainly stay here in the future. The front desk staff was very accommodating, we arrived on the red eye flight and got to the hotel @ 8 am, they courteously stowed our luggage and offered the earliest possible check-in. The Algonquin also provided a late check-out and again stored our bags, which allowed us to take advantage of our extra time in the city...priceless.
