We had a great price -$166 for a room with a King bed. The room was otherwise small and the bathroom had a shower, no tub.
Not the best service. They never seemed available to open the door other than upon our arrival.
Great location, quiet part of the street, but only blocks from Times Square.

The Algonquin hotel, located on 46th and 6th Avenue in New York is truly a landmark hotel. It is older but has outstanding customer service, nice rooms, and a friendly attitude all around. Particularly of interest to me was Matilda, the official Algonquin Hotel cat. You can read about the legend of Matilda on the hotel's website. My girlfriend and I put in two nights here and found it to be very upscale. The room was smaller than expected, but I can live with that. There is no ice machine anywhere in the building, but to compensate for that, room service will bring you a bucket of ice whenever you ask. The customer service as I mentioned above was totally first class. From the moment we walked in until the time we left, nothing but great service. I will stay here again, no questions asked, and definitely recommend this hotel.

My room was tiny. However, if you can afford or negotiate/ask for an upgrade from a basic room, it will be worth it. The service was great, and the lobby bars were wonderful. Even though the signature drinks are a fortune, have one for a splurge. I had one of the best mojitos ever! And I love Matilda, the house cat. You will feel like you have stepped into another decade of comfort, friendly service, and atmosphere.

A wonderful stay. The hotel is charming and full of history. Service was excellent. Definitely the best beds in town. The Algonquin is more than just a place to stay - it is part of the magic that is New York City.

This famous old hotel has the charm of Old New York, I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting who wants a taste of how Manhattan was in the 30's...good value for the money and the staff was extremely welcoming and helpful.

I stay in NYC for business from time to time and I'll stay here again if I can get another great rate. The bed is very comfortable and has a down comforter, the staff pleasant, the room a decent size for NYCand very clean, plus wireless access is free. My 4th floor room was very quiet until 6 am when I could hear the elevator bell -- I was located near the elevator but not directly across the hall. The other downside was the old tub and rusted shower head. Not a great shower experience but the bed is more important to me and I got a good night's sleep.

Even Matilda their famous cat is a snob.
The perfect location to everywhere in New York.
The service was personal and great, they helped us get tickets that were im possible to get.
Pass on the room service, its very expensive.
For special time go to the Algonquin, and feel immersed in New York.
